He can score? Garbage buckets within 2 feet of the rim don't really qualify. Sorry, that's an overhype/reach. He can defend for sure (I don't recall the all NBA defense team so I'll ignore the hyperbole) but a top tier defender is not a superstar if it doesn't come with a top tier scorer as well, it's not the same the other way round (ie you absolutely can be a superstar who isn't a top tier defender if you score well enough.) He rebounds less than Tari, his passing so far has been mundane. Literally the only thing he's done at an above average level is defend, that's great, but it aint a superstar.
Even if Amen can never be more than the dunker, it will work with passers like Alpi and Reed out there. Amen is too good in the dunker spot for his defender to leave him. If the defender does Alpi or Reed will get the ball to him. Amen is also a good passer who could easily kick it back out to Reed for a 3. The passing between these three is going to be amazing.
I love that they're using decimals now (this goes for MLB as well) to let everyone know EXACTLY closely sort of how old these kids are. Because there's a huge difference between 19.3 and 18.7
It is a good feeling knowing we have some capable backups. I’m more concerned about him leap frogging Holiday. Nothing personal against Holiday, would just prefer to see Reed if they’re playing at comparable levels. It hurt last year when FVV was out a few games.
You are worrying about nothing. Aaron Holiday will have no effect of Reed's development. If he doesn't leapfrog Holiday this season, he ain't who we think he is.
I'll say this for the umpteenth time: There will be winners and losers among the youngsters. Not all of them will be worth keeping.
Exchanging Luka for Trey Young remains fresh in everyone's mind as a total draft-day blunder by the Hawks. What people forget is in 2005, they drafted a very unproven Marvin Williams at #2 instead of taking CP3 or Deron Williams. For many years they had a very talented roster but were a PG away from being a legit contender. Time will tell and maybe not taking Reed will rank up there with these two. However, I don't think Risacher will be a bust. I think he has the highest upside in this draft.
