I don't understand the concern about positions. That is pretty antiquated logic. Amen and Reed can both play together and both initiate the offense as needed, regardless of designated positions.

I can see FVV traded by the deadline... well... we will see. Depends on how good the team us overall along with Reed and Amen's progression.

The crazy thing is, Alpi, Amen, Tari, Adams will get us so many offensive rebounds and kick it back out. Reed can just keep firing.

On the contrary, I would try to keep him around long-term, if possible.

Transitioning from starter to mentor, eventually.

I can't see it, the Rockets have too many young players to pay and FVV makes WAY too much.

I was just thinking something similarly. FVV is a great fit for the team. I like him with the young guys.

To me, it’ll be very interesting to see what part of the young talent makes it longterm with the Rockets.

Pleasantly surprised Shepard has shown he can be a PG in these summer league games. He doesn’t even look like a SG trying to play PG out there, he’s just a natural floor commander. His handles are more than adequate and he has shown extremely good court vision. But most of all I love how he takes control of the game and has so much composure, very John Stockton like out there. I honestly was expecting a JJ Redick or Del Curry but he is so much more of a complete player who knows how to let the game come to him. I dare say if this is really who Shepard is then we just landed a potential superstar.

I don't see the issue with (post FVV) Amen and Reed running the backcourt ballhandling/distribution duties.

On defense, that will sort itself out, will it not?

I never said they couldn't play together, I just think if Amen's not at the 1, we have better options everywhere else to start before him. Only place I can see him fitting would be as the 3 spot (unless we slide Bari down and make him the 4 I guess) which I guess works for the point-forward aspect, I'm not sure I can say with conviction that he's got the offensive skillset of a star 3 in any stretch of my imagination though.

I’m one to not overreact to anything SL. That said, you can see the overall game with Sheppard. I think he’s someone that will be even better playing with high end talent. Sky is the limit. Dude just knows how to play the game.

So the only place you can see him fitting is the obvious place where he'd start? Funny how that works.

Disagree on Amen. He's got an opportunity to be special. Thompson and Sheppard are the two guys on the roster that already possess an elite skill.
As we saw when Thompson got minutes last year, we were better with him on the floor. Of our main rotation guys last year, he was our best perimeter defender and our best rebounder. Even without a 3 pt shot, teams aren't going to double off of Thompson because that frees him up for cuts to the hoop and offensive rebounds. Similar to Rodman, in that nobody doubled off him because that would turn him loose on thevboards.

Whitmore is a one dimentionsl guy. He looks to score but doesn't do much else. He doesn't make his teammates better. He has to become more well rounded or he will just be an instant offense guy off the bench.

Eason is a great energy guy but he's a bit of a chicken with his head cut off. Not sure that his game currently translates to big minutes. Coming in an playing like a manic in short bursts may be the most effective for him.

Smith is still a question mark. He just doesn't look comfortable in the big moments. Hopefully that will change.

With us having Rookie extensions coming due every year in the next few, I'd be surprised if FVV is here past this season. Not really a surprise though. That's why his contract doesn't have any guarenteed money after this season.
