This sucks, Reed Sheppard rookie card prices will be through the roof. S.Nash and M.Price can't jump as high as R.Sheppard, he may have pieces of them, but both ain't R.Sheppard. Nickname IRS
Is he the best option at either position though? I feel like the things that'd make Amen a superstar are somewhat predicated on him being a PG. As a wing I'm not sure he brings enough to the table to be more than just a solid starter with top tier defense, which is fine, but not what we've been hoping for from him either.
Imagine if some people got their way and we passed on Shepp and San Antonio ended up pairing him with Wemby...
He looks like the exact same player he looked like with UK, regularly playing the best college basketball teams in the country. I get what you're saying, though.
Sheppard Will face some matchups that don’t make him the ideal person to initiate the offense. This is where Amen comes in. Shepherd shifts off the ball and a man breaks down his guy and gets to the rim.
I would have committed seppuku. But now we have paired him with the Wemby Destroyer, so it's all good.
I agree with you but man... Reed is just that guy all the way around. Amen can still play point forward a lot which may work. Man... I love both on defense and mentally. I see our team coming together.
So we're projecting Amen as Reed's backup now? Despite up until a week ago Amen apparently being a clear best shot at a superstar according to the CF zeitgeist. Or are you saying that's what Amen brings as a starter? Because that sounds like roleplayer **** tbh
Amen can be starting SF. Better than Brooks. PG: Shepp/FVV SG: Jalen/Cam SF: Amen/Tari PF: Bari/Tari C: Alpi/Adams
No, we're projecting Amen as a point forward in the dunker spot when he's not handling the ball playing technically as a SF with Reed and Cam as the guards.
That’s not at all what he said. The beautiful thing about Reed is he can play on or off ball. Paired with Amen, we can adjust the lineup as needed.
Yes, I think Holiday goes from backup point to spot duty almost immediately, before Christmas. And FredVV plays a more reasonable ~32mpg..... hopefully that means Fred stops doing that thing where he takes 7.99 seconds to get the ball across half court that drives me absolutely nuts. That puts IRS around 20 minutes per night, as a baseline.
Oh I agree on the team coming together, I'm just less convinced where Amen fits into it. Reed clearly looks the better PG, Cam/Tari/Bari are all arguably better at the 3, Tari/Bari at the 4, so what are we moving him to, the 2 guard? I've been told repeatedly that a 2 guard has to shoot 38% on at least 60-70 of their games (lol) and I could MAYBE see Amen get to 18% but I'm not sure that's the same thing...
What's not to like? I thought that he was the obvious pick and he"s been better than we could have hoped he would be. His IQ and anticipation are off the charts. He's already answered those who questioned if he could play pg. He's definitely got the "it" factor. It will be interesting to see how opponents play him. So many bigs play drop coverage. If they do that, then it's an open 3 for Sheppard. I'd be running a whole lot of pick and roll with him. So, to summarize...not bad.
