He has been awful vs LHP but .859 OPS vs RHP, so he would make a great platoon partner with Dubon A Cronenworth/Dubon platoon at 1B would be better than what Jon is giving us, but not enough better to be worth giving up Melton, especially for a 30 year old with 6 years left on his contract. I have been one of the most vocal "we have to do better than Jon at 1B" guys on here, but since Abreu has been gone he has been perfectly acceptable. Not great, but if Tucker was in the lineup we would be a great offense with average hitting at 1B. It's not a position of need, but if a Vladdy/Alonso type were available and we could get him, sure...end of the day, neither of them are likely to be moved
Lots of teams need pitching. There will be a battle. I am hoping we can raid the White Sox, or Blue Jays.
I admit to my folly of bringing up Cronenworth. At the time, Singleton was below 100 wRC+/OPS+ for thecseason and I was looking for outside the box options. He would no longer be a viable choice for several reasons.
Someone threw his name out before but would Lamonte Wade Jr be worth going after? Majority 1B but a little bit in OF.
Where are you getting that? He’s never played OF in a MLB game. If he’s capable of playing at least an average OF defensively, I’d be interested. Same goes for 3B as he could slide over there next year.
This is what I said on the pod. Guerrero Crochet Miller Send all the top prospects out to make it happen. All those guys have tons of control left other than Guerrero and he keeps us through Tucker and Framber at least.
The Royals massively overpaid for RP Hunter Harvey. Gave up former 2nd rd pick 3B Cayden Wallace and a supplemental pick in this draft. Huge cost for a guy who is gonna be a setup man on a contender. Would be the Astros equivalent of something like Zach Dezenzo and Chase Jaworsky.
Is Brent rooker on the market? Or is he still part of Oakland's future? He's already 29. I'd imagine the asking the price for rooker is hella steep.
Just about every position player on the market has both positives and negatives. Rooker would be a huge bat in the 4th or 5th spot to deepen the lineup and is controlled for several years. He also strikes out a ton and is a very poor defender so he is likely a DH only. That would put Yordan in LF more often which has its own issues. I'm sure he isn't part of Oakland's future because of his age, but they will want quite a lot for him. Likely 1 top 5 organizational prospect and 2 more in the 6-12 range.
