No Presidential candidate in the USA deserves to be the target of an assassination attempt, but I don’t think anyone should be shocked it involved Donald Trump. He is the most polarizing President since Andrew Jackson and has made more inflammatory comments than any President in US history. If anything, I am surprised it has taken this long with the amount of guns in the USA, the number of people and how divided by partisanship this country is. The last 23 years have largely been objectively poor for the USA between 9-11, the government then lying about the reason for the invasion of Iraq, 20+ years of war, COVID, having a twice impeached felon likely to be elected and now an assassination attempt - after Charlottesville and the Floyd riots. I am very pessimistic about the USA right now. I now have to worry about weirdo’s from the right retaliating because an apparent weirdo from the left decided to try and kill a candidate. Idiots stormed the Capitol …. too… is someone going to go to my kids school and shoot it up because of politics? Seems that a lot of people in the USA, regardless of party just want violence.
