Why do people call Sheppard Cocaine Curry? I don't get it. What am I missing? Honestly, I hate Curry's name being associated with anyone on our team. At least Reed doesn't chew on his mouth guard like a pacifier or drape a towel over his head on the bench like Curry. Thank God for that.

Nice start in Summer League (remember John Lucas, Jr) but....

 

It's only summer league but I'm so excited about Sheppard.

Not only his shooting, he'll make an impact in many ways on both ends of the floor.

 

I figured it was something like that. Hate the nic. Don't like cocaine or Curry associated with him as a nickname. He deserves better.

 

I like the Tax Man nickname much better. IRS

 

I think a good nick for Reed could be
The Rifleman.

He's a sharpshooter from downtown after all, and there was already a Pistol Pete.

He has good instincts in terms of anticipating where players will go or where the ball will be but he isn’t a good man on ball defender. Doesn’t move feet well and often gambles to get steals.

So Brandon Miller and Jaime Jaquez who were both part of the USA select team are both playing with their respective summer league squads. Is there any news about Amen/Bari joing the summer league squad?

 

We can walk away from FVV after this season. If Reed is good enough to play 28 minutes off the bench, then he will be the starter by next season and FVV will not be resigned. Until the team needs to make that decision FVV can be a mentor. No need to trade him at all.

 

Cam and Amen both have major holes in their game. Reed’s only flaw is one on one defense. He’s already better than Holiday. There is no way Holiday will get more minutes than Sheppard.

Based on what dude? One game? The post i responded to claimed RS will be higher on the depth chart to start the season. I doubt this will be the case. You are assuming he is playing at an NBA level already with no major adjustments to make except for defense which is certainly not the case as he is a rookie and has played only one summer league game. Regular season game speed is different, intensity, and skill and level of players are different. Besides defense is a priority for this coach and this team. Making the playoffs is also priority. If he continues to miss assignments and being out of of position on defense that could literally lose games. I imagine a slow integration approach either mid or end of year type thing.

 

Sheppard will be ahead of Holiday in the depth chart (and he should be), but I think he will be eased into the rotation. Probably 10-15 minutes initially.
