Man believe me I know we all have said this at least 100 times but and it's big one. What if our boy Forrest has finally figured out how to run. I could really see him as a Andrew Miller type weapon. Multiple innings reliever dominant. One can hope.

Isn't it injuries that have set him back?

    I thought it was strikeouts?

I will say I'm encouraged that he has improved his K rate (32% to 29%) moving up to AA.

But that looks a bit like Pedro Leon to me and he is in AAA for the 47th consecutive year getting passed by others to play in Houston.

I have been pretty skeptical of this when I’ve seen you post it before. He strikes out too much. BUT…he hit 19 HR and 37 SB across 2 levels last season in spite of a k rate >30%, and he has lower k rate so far this season despite moving up a level. So there was already evidence that he had elite power and speed and now there’s some small amount of evidence that he is able to adjust to better quality pitching and may actually be improving overall in terms of k rate, so…

Seriously I can’t keep Zach Dezenzo, Zach Cole and Zach Daniels straight in my head. Hopefully they all become top 100 prospects

Jose Guedez vs. Aberdeen: 3 IP, 5 H, 2 unearned runs, 3 BB, 3 K; he was all over the place as only 34 of his 70 pitches were strikes.

Luis Baez hit his 14th homer of the year for Asheville.

To be clear - he was and is still a very volatile prospect and his floor is very low, but his ceiling is very very high.

He lasted until the 10th round because he basically did not play half of high school and his first two years of college. As a junior he focused better and broke out - Astros got him.

He has really good bat speed, he is a very fast runner that can steal bases well, he has power and an arm.

I was very skeptical of him (and still am), but if he cuts down his strikeouts - he has all the tools to be a really big prospect. A centerfielder that has a very strong and improving glove, power and speed.

He has the highest upside in the organization…. But his chance of making it is lower.

He had a big season last year and was supposed to be exposed in AA - and had a close start but is turning it on now.

I am wait and see skeptical of him - but his recent success in AA is really big for the Astros.

I think we will see a consistent pattern of SP prospects in Houston’s system pitching better in AA than they did in High A. Dombrowski is one I think may break out big time once he gets to corpus.

Sounds a lot like Springer without the Top 100 prospect vibes, good to see him coming on with Melton having a subpar year. Is Cole the type of guy they’d make space for in the lineup if he break out? Outfield looks to be a bit crowded for the time being.

I haven't paid any attention to the Asheville pitchers, but what are their H/R splits and how have the ones who graduated done, given that they play in one of the more ridiculous ballparks I've ever seen.

    You've seen the Ashville ballpark.

    What's it look like?

It's about 280' down the RF line, and LF isn't much deeper, I think the deepest part of the park is 380-something

Fun Fact: parts of Bull Durham were filmed there.

Like somebody decided to build a ballpark in a natural bowl that clearly wasn't big enough for pro baseball, but said "meh, good enough"
