That's pretty much where I'm at. To a certain extent, just about all WR's are "divas"... they always feel like they were open when the ball doesn't go their direction. What really matters is the relationship between the QB and his receivers and from all indications, receivers love Stroud.
The one thing that has been a constant discussion point is that he is a serious, serious worker. If he can embrace the "elder statesman" role and be a leader in the WR room and elsewhere, I will love this guy for the rest of my football life. AJ80 will be around, and between him, Stroud, Demeco, etc...the chances of pouty/whiney/diva b.s. are pretty minimal. I hope.
Can anybody show us a specific example of his "diva" behavior? The "unhappy with his role" narrative appears to be rumor. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but everything is from unnamed sources or speculation. Count me in with the "I'll worry about it if it happens" crowd.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/st...uts-2024-espn-jeremy-fowler-position-rankings 9. Stefon Diggs, Houston Texans Highest ranking: 5 | Lowest ranking: Unranked Age: 30 | Last year's ranking: 6 One of the most polarizing figures on this list, Diggs' presence -- and complicated legacy -- leaves voters torn. He's been one of the most electric coverage-beating receivers of the last half-decade, a player who elevated the play of Josh Allen in Buffalo with toughness and timely catches in traffic. His 445 receptions over four seasons with the Bills led the NFL. But his production took a serious dip in the back half of 2023, when he failed to surpass 35 yards in six of his last 10 games, including playoffs. And he's now worn out his welcome in two spots, Minnesota and Buffalo. Some evaluators say the dip was a byproduct of Buffalo's transition to a run-oriented attack. He still led the NFL in tight-window receptions (17). "He still has some left in the tank and didn't see a dip in his overall ability," an AFC executive said. Not everyone agrees. "I saw a little decline -- I think his vertical speed has tapered off a bit," another AFC exec said. Diggs is now a Houston Texan. The team reworked his contract so that he's a free agent in 2025. The pressure is on. "I question the fit in Houston," an NFL personnel evaluator said. "They've already got plenty in the passing game with Nico Collins and Tank Dell and Dalton Schultz. And you wonder how his personality fits with a young nucleus."
Since the day he was acquired, he's done everything right as a player and teammate. All of the "diva" bullsh!t the media had pinned on him is completely not evident so far.
Yeah, I'm STILL waiting for some documented examples of his "diva"/"locker room cancer" behavior. Sounds like it's all been bunch of sour grapes from Bills fans.
It really doesn't seem like Diggs is a diva off the field. Even dating all the way back to his Minnesota days, it seems as though his reputation comes from his sideline antics when things aren't going well. But, the counterpoint to that is he simply wants to win, and play the game the right way while doing so. There are countless examples of great receivers wearing their emotions on their sleeves on the sidelines, and in a lot of instances it was justified. Let's hope he and CJ build a fantastic rapport, and that it leads to great things for this team.
He keeps, KEEPS talking about how being a mentor/teacher to the younger receivers is part of his job... I'll believe the bullsh!t when I see it.
I also believe that CJ has the personality that will keep Diggs attitude in check. Just like Brady was able to keep Moss in check.
I had diggs on my fantasy team last year in Buffalo and his last year in Minnesota when they were a heavy run team. He was not happy in both of those seasons. He’s on a one year contract. He won’t be happy if he doesn’t get his touches or if he’s the second or third option. With that being said, I still think diggs is the wr1 on the team. A lot of supposed fantasy experts think nico is the guy, but if the Texans thought nico or tank were elite, they wouldn’t had made the trade for diggs.
I don't think Diggs is necessarily a one and done player. They will still have flexibility to sign him to a two year deal before Stroud's contract of doom kicks in.
I think there is a legit chance he's the 3rd option, which could become a problem. That said, I'm actually sick and tired of reading about Diggs' attitude, positive or negative. Right now, I just want to hear news and grab highlights from 11-on-11 drills and see the first-team offense in the preseason. The horse is dead.
