A proxy is something (like increasing insurance rates) that is not directly relevant but serves as an example of another phenomenon (increase in the frequency of extreme weather). Thousands of years' worth of climate data from ice core samples are both relevant and directly correlated, not proxies.
I'm not saying we shouldn't be careful to not pollute and that we shouldn't be careful with the finite resources Mother Earth is giving us. But what I see very clearly is that that climate change issue has been hijacked to push through old socialist agendas.
Go to your class and teach this denialist stuff next term - don't let the cancel culture mafioso stop you.
This guy is more intelligent than all the leftists on this board combined. It's really just common sense.
Yes! You just won. Such a great burn on the leftists! You won 15,000 gold stars for your win and super sick burn. Enjoy the many many many many many rewards.
LMAO at his so called right wing minded not so common sense. Only common to their little portion of the human race.
No one in Washington (Dem or GOP) believes climate change is an existential threat to mankind. If they did they would be working with all governments around the world to solve this issue.
Lol, do you know how the US government works? The problem with the government taking action on anything - let alone something big and complicated - is that our system is designed with dozens of veto points where a single actor or actors can block any action. Some of these are official veto points like Congress. Some of these are artificial made up veto points like the filibuster. Some of them are outside of the federal level such as sociopathic authoritarian hate - governments like Florida and Texas where even mentioning "climate change" is legally barred Some of them are currently intractable, like the bought and paid for right wing judges who are not elected and can do whatever they want - forever. Some of them are unofficial veto points, like lobbying and propaganda media organs like Fox, right wing think tanks etc. also even the non right wing media does a horrible job. You even get old goofs like @Os Trigonum delightfully trolling us here anonymously with dumb denialist points that he's too embarrassed to publicly endorse IRL. There's an inherent bias towards stasis on government (other than at the judge level, where John Roberts has declared the Supreme Court and right wing judges the most powerful lawmakers in America, empowered to "interpret" whatever policy goals they can get 5 people to support). Basically any policy change has to clear a number of levels where it's chances of being blocked are 10% - 50% or higher. Do the math and the probability of very low.
If there is a real threat like an asteroid hitting earth in a year or two, you can bet everyone in DC will work together. The reason no one in power really cares is they will all be dead before the crisis hit, so no one really gives a **** about it.
There is *currently* a real threat, it is basically the return of a fascist dictator-idiot-traitor who already staged a coup against his country now unconstrained by any criminal laws - and half of Washington, both official and unofficial - is trying to make that threat happen faster. I mean honestly if that doesn't illustrate why a presumed rationality of " Washington" as a single actor is a questionable assumption on your part, nothing will. Look at the red state governors man Climate change is literally ripping Texas and Florida to pieces like an asteroid (and insurance costs are through the roof as a result) - what action are they taking in the face of this threat? Outlawing teachers from mentioning it and opening up Bitcoin rigs
