NY Times commentary on Biden's presser tonight https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/0...75-af7f-577c-b4c4-cd3915486c85?smid=url-share
Honest question to all Americans here: do you truly believe you live in a free country, a democracy and that Trump eligibility to become president again after what he did does not frighten you in the sense of having trust in the justice and legal system on top of the political and moral integrity of it, particularly pertaining to a guy like Trump?
It does worry me a lot but it doesn’t mean we don’t live in a free country. At the moment we can still expect to have an election this year and while Trump’s qualifications for office might be a questioned by many the ability to vote for him isn’t. We wouldn’t have so much hand wringing about whether Biden can win if we didn’t still believe they people can freely vote for Trump, RFK jr. or no one.
You think that the ability for people to elect whoever they want, even if that person was convicted of a crime (or 90), makes those people LESS free? The obvious corollary of that position being that restricting who people are allowed to vote for makes them MORE free.
