Wasn't able to watch but can the Dems move on yet? Or do they still have to pretend?

Can't just have him not run again until you have a suitable replacement. Honestly when is the Republican party gonna hold Trump accountable? At least the Democrats are having a conversation about it. This press conference he's having should tell us everything we need to know...

They need to get this show on the road before his 8PM curfew...quit pushing the damn thing back.

Yall keep doing this thinking it's some major own.

You're basically saying that this group of people you've accused of being automotons can synthesize new data and think for themselves after all.

It makes you look bad, not them.

The nomination process is what the convention is for.

As far as the money goes, I doubt that would be a problem.

My concern would be getting over any legal red tape about ballot access.

People really over estimate the importance of campaigning IMO.

Four Democratic sources with knowledge tell CBS News that they expect dozens of Democratic lawmakers over the next 48 hours to issue statements calling for President Biden to step out of the race.

The planning is coordinated, and some of the statements are pre-written, according to two sources. And it's not clear that anything Mr. Biden says in his high-stakes press conference Thursday night could redirect the expected course of events.

House Democratic leadership has indicated to members that they should speak their minds, multiple sources told CBS News. One of those well-placed sources predicted that the next three to four days will be "brutal," and that it may become untenable by sometime next week for the president to continue in the race.

I saw a theory recently that talked about the difference it makes in perception when you're seeing someone degrade inch by inch over the course of months if not years. Versus your average voter who sees Biden speak maybe once or twice a year. The difference jumps out to the rest of us immediately, whereas those who are steeped in it can't really recognize how drastic the change is. There's no doubt some knew it, but the catalyst was always going to come from outside, not within.

The Democrats, and Republicans too, changed their nomination process a few elections ago. There used to be “super delegates” who were party insiders who’s votes carried more weight than ordinary state delegates. The parties got rid of those because any felt it was undemocratic to allow for party insiders to overrule state delegates pledged to the candidates who won their states. Also rules allowing state delegates to change their votes were changed to bind delegates to the candidates they had pledged for. All of this was meant to do away with the “smoke filled room” of past conventions where a nominee was decided and instead give almost all of the weigh to the primary process.

As such since Biden holds an overwhelming delegate advantage he cannot be forced out by party. Under the rules the only way to replace him is if he either he steps down or is truly incapacitated to the point he doesn’t qualify for office.

my dude, depending on how this evening goes, we may be discussing the Biden presidency, much less his candidacy.
