Don't forget one of the unknowns on the roster showing a high motor, leading people to want to sign him and throw him into the rotation.
If I see flashes of anything from him in the SL, I honestly doubt I'll care that much. On the other hand, if he's struggling to get separation or picks up his dribble because of pressure, I'll start being worried. If he's bricking shots in the SL, I'm not going to worry... yet. Stuff happens - especially to shooters (it always happens to Rockets shooters). Too many SL legends out there never did much in the NBA. So, basically, if he's going to be the next Stockton or Nash, it won't be proven until the regular season. That's my hot take.
Sheppard's entire career comes down to his first shot, if he makes it he's a first ballot HOFer....if he misses it he's the next Jalen Green.
Keep in mind that Stockton was a 22 year-old rookie and came off the bench for his first three years. He wasn't John Stockton until his fourth season. Nash came in at the same age and had a similar trajectory, not becoming Steve Nash until his fifth year. So, you know, patience, low initial expectations, and all that.
It would be nice to see in Summer League that RS has improved that pick-up-your-dribble habit. Because that's what it is. We'll see a few soaring assists on the break and he can't hide his jumper. It's too good.
Jordan greets Paxson at the draft, remix 2024 Visions of 91 Finals (2026) and Reed going Paxson on Green (MJ) collapsing the Celtics defense Reed is going to open up driving lanes for Green/Cam etc Green was Stone first selection ever, the KPJ comparison is position only, Green always had more clout day one, rather right or wrong The NBA draft is where you send your franchise player to greet the new pick Ass kissers/fake leaders/2 strike type players do what KPJ did Its night and day situation The Rockets are going to run the offense like end season run come Oct/Nov.......around that guy who greeted ''greeted Reed at the draft''.......next time just send Adams/Landale or Tate, your non ''franchise'' player to greet the high lotto pick...... Sounds bout right
Very similar to Stockton but Stockton had a much better handle. I think he will just need time to adjust to becoming a full time PG. He needs to start and run an offense in the G League before getting NBA minutes. After he’s run an NBA bench then he can start competing for starter minutes. For his rookie season something like his college season would be great, just gunning off the bench paired with Amen or Green who can handle the ball a bit. Also at his height and weight he’s just going to get pushed around a lot and can’t do anything about that. We have to give him time to get stronger. I think most of this season will be development but he will be perfectly polished by next season when we have to make a decision on FVV. I see him helping us make a post ASB push as a super sub off the bench.
I for one will throw out reason for the summer league. If Reed shoots 75% from 3 while scoring 25 ppg, I will get unreasonably excited.
Pretty much feel like Sheppard's only goal tonight is to take ten three pointers. I don't even care if he oh-fers it. I just want him to shoot the shots.
PREDICTION TIME: Reed is going to make at least 7 (3 pointers) tonight…I think we have another Curry on our hands…
