Don't understand the long lines at gas stations. You haven't been driving, and aren't about to drive any longer distance than normal. Burn gas waiting in line, so you buy more gas.
Generators could be a factor, but the same lines are happening in the hood -- generators are almost non-existent. I think it's mostly "panic purchasing". People need to just relax for 48 hours.
Ok, why are 'poor' people driving a few hours after the storm: Air conditioning Boredom Privacy Gotta get tf away from family Need for an internet connection (screen addiction/work/letting relatives know they're safe) Checking on their people Socializing Food/Water Need for and/or under the influence of Alcohol/Drugs (tobacco is in this group)
Still no power and this sucks, the other side of the street has power but not my side of Louetta. Last night sucked...........maybe today. I am glad to be at work where we have AC. Went to a local bar then sat in my car with my AC streaming TV and then 6 hours in the friggin heat to sleep......I am getting pretty good at taking a shower with just the flashlight on my phone
I put the ‘a few hours after the storm’ in there for that reason. I get that some people had to work regardless but with no power almost everyone couldn’t.

propane or even better, tap into your natural gas line for generator power (if you dual fuel or trifuel generator).
I think maybe you lost context We're talking about why people would go get gas. I personally have a tri-fuel but stupidly didn't set it up for NG or a house connection, so I ran extension cords and waited in gas lines.
That’s pretty much been my routine past 2 days… sucks when the rest of the neighborhood starts getting power and you are one of the few left in the dark/heat. I think nearly 2/3 of our neighborhood, most of the general area, have elec. unfortunately I think we are tied to a down power line and we have seen any progress on it at all yet. and all I keep reading is that center point is “working round the clock”
What’s weird to me is I went to the Sienna HEB yesterday evening. There was a line just to get into the parking lot and I assumed the grocery was chock full of people and the shelves were cleared out. Especially since Walmart and Kroger nearby are both closed. However, the line was solely for the gas station and the H-E-B grocery itself was business as usual with everything in stock. The inside felt like an oasis of normality.
Still no power. We were teased last night. Power came on about 6pm for about 20 seconds and that was it. Thought for sure it would have been on sometime last night. Out in the car now to get some AC and just get out of the house. Thankful it’s not a crazy hot July right now. Hope everyone is making it ok.
Yeah, I was just wanting people to know there are other options. I didn't realize that until years ago. Get that inlet to your panel. Absolutely worth it. If you need a good electrician or plumber, PM me.
I’m in the Heights area near Washington St. and Houston Ave. and still no power here. Centerpoint sent out a notification a couple days ago that our power was restored but no further updates since. Seems like they’re lying about their numbers.
