We have a system that needs reform. I'm 100% in favor of ranked-choice voting, open primaries, and eliminating gerrymandering. But let's be clear: the toxicity and moral compromises currently reside predominantly within one party. Biden, though an old and decent man, is being stubborn and foolish (or not, who knows). OTOH, the other guy is a morally corrupt psychopath whom Republicans proudly celebrate. It's not a hard choice between these two candidates, morally, ethically, and on almost any ground. While voters on the right do not have much of a choice with Trump having a stranglehold on the Republican party, their desperate attempt to believe others are as morally compromised as they are isn't going to release that moral pressure valve.
Yes. Exactly. Republicans as a party, are in no way concerned about all of Trump's issues, indictments, felonies, etc. They either or bothered or even like it. Democrats are deeply troubled by Biden's age and it has an effect. This is all aside from any political issues for either candidate.
If Biden stays in the race, he will lose to Trump. Question for the hopeful Democrats: When/If this happens, will you forgive Biden and will you become angry with him for not stepping aside?
Won't forgive, and will be angry if that indeed does happen. However, nothing is guaranteed at this point. It is possible if improbable for him to stay in and win. A big issue in the election is that every single gaffe or mistake will be magnified going forward for Biden.
FJB lost my sympathy when he put his own ego before everything and everyone else. March/April 2020, the party came together and agreed to let Biden run the election. The candidates gracefully bowed out. This is how FJB repays the gratitude. Standing tall and proud like the narcissist he has always been.
I really do wonder sometimes if the Democrat establishment truly fear fascism. They want to prevent the rise of fascism with a near decrepit near corpse of a man.
Agreed that it was a poor move. But in a battle of egos negatively affecting government, Biden is still better than the alternative.
It's not rational, but I think he is correct. Hardcore Trumpers think all of these cases against him were a conspiracy from the left, therefor actually cementing his base. Campaign donations don't lie. And I think that the amount of donations on the democratic side will determine if Biden is still in after this week. The nominees both flawed, are only sitting on the bus that is driven by the high money doners and super pacts. Just my thoughts.
This isn’t a contextless choice and again the presumptive Republican nominee yes. A weakening mental declining president versus one who has both been proven corrupt and has had several members of his own administration say he neither understands nor Supports the constitution this is an easy choice. Also for all of the blame directed at the “Democratic Establishment” I see very little from those who claim to not support either party for the Republican Establishment which completely caved to Trump. Where was the challenge to Trump in 2020 and while there was a contested primary this year the party rapidly coalesced around Trump. In fact one of his own family is now the head of the RNC.

I generally agree with Jon Stewart’s take. I think Stephen Colbert did a pretty good job too. Over the weekend I felt that Biden was going to step down but given recent comments from many Democrats I’m not so sure.
Jon Stewart, like many other Democrat right now, is saying it's time for Biden to step aside because if Trump is elected, it's "endgame democracy." Pause for a second to appreciate how deranged the left has become that for them, the binary choice of "democracy" or "not democracy" is whether the public *democratically* elects Donald Trump. They want you to forget that Donald Trump was already president for four years, and there was in fact another election at the end of those four years. Think about how much arrogance is necessary for Democrats to prosecute Trump in four unprecedented criminal cases, seize his properties, and try to remove him from the ballot, then claim that they are the ones representing "democracy." Think about how craven and entitled you have to be to attempt kicking Trump off the ballot via court ruling, while also plotting to replace Joe Biden on the Democrat ticket without a single vote, then say you're the force representing "democracy." Nobody hates "democracy" more than elite Democrats.
The last two weeks has been very illuminating. I have to give the left their props. The fallout from the debate has plainly illustrated the difference between the modern right and left. Imagine the shoe is on the other foot. Would the right have the courage or even wherewithal to call on Trump to stand down? Absolutely not. Are there Biden sycophants still gaslighting us? Of course. But they are a rapidly evaporating minority. Whereas on the right, anyone sane or of good-faith was weeded out ages ago. It's funny to me watching right-wing posters here giggle and snicker sharing articles and videos from the left critical of Biden's candidacy. This is not the own you think it is. You are signaling to the rest of us who the adults are in the room, and it isn't the conservatives. You piss and moan about the unquestioning, bias, monolithic nature of the left and then in the same breath show us all who actually has a conscience and political agency. I may not agree with the strategies, or sometimes even the aims of the modern left, but I can sleep well at night knowing they aren't going to ****ing sleepwalk off a cliff enabling some loathsome lunatic's power fantasy.
