My view is that with Dubon and Caratini on the roster, there will be very few opportunities for the 12th and 13th guys, so they need to be the types of players whose value won’t be hurt by not playing. I think Leon and Loperfido still have quite a bit of upside and thus would be wasted in a 12th man role. Cabbage is what he is, a guy with very good power/speed/arm who strikes out a lot. That’s fine when he can be used mostly as a pinch runner (speed), defensive sub (speed/arm), or as a bench bat when the team needs a homer to get back in the game, where the impact of his strikeout problem will be mitigated. Same for Salazar, as the 13th guy he won’t play. But as a 3rd catcher, he would allow for Espada to more freely use Diaz as a DH or pinch hitter when he’s resting, and Salazar can also play 1B and 2B if needed. Plus I think Salazar could contribute to game planning even when he’s not playing.
Not sure why the Stros would carry 3 catchers unless they choose to not address 1B before the deadline and want to use one of them there.

Little bit of an AIDS lineup. But, with Yordan out, gonna need rest of the guys to step up. And Arrighetti to not completely suck. Great to see Altuve back. I swear to God if they drill Altuve again, someone needs to be charging the mound or ejected. I want blood.
Stros obviously don't think this is an option, but I like how KC uses Perez while carrying 2 catchers: catch 60% of the games, pretty even split b/t 1B or DH the other 40.
Anybody have the updated list for the season on this? Be interesting to see it every year since 2017 as well. I’d do it but I cannot seem to solve the uploading from my iPad.
