Yesterday was my final day with my sweet girl. She was barely eating the last few days, but I got her favorite food, pizza with all the meats on it, and she managed to eat that. The vet came to my home, and she passed away surrounded by those who loved her. I opted for a private cremation where I’ll be able to receive her ashes in an urn along with a paw print

Last night I had a dream that she was still alive and happy, and I get emotional seeing anything that he reminds me of her, like her leash or dog bowl.

She was the best dog I ever could’ve hoped for and brought so much joy and happiness to me and everyone around her. I will miss her dearly.

I’ll miss the hikes. I’ll miss the car trips with the windows down. I’ll miss the tug-of-war. I’ll miss the trips to the dog park. I’ll miss the “it’s time to take my dogs on a walk” when it’s garbage time of a Rockets game and the game is officially a wrap. I’ll miss her always being right there to greet me when I come home

She gave me 12 great years.

Idk if it’s registered with my other dog that she won’t be coming back, but I’m gonna keep things as normal as possible for him.

Reeko, so very sorry to hear that but will emphasize that you did the right thing. All those things you miss will be there and the pain will linger but for animals like dogs and cats they live in the moment and stretching those last few moments of life in pain and suffering just because we can’t let go isn’t right.

as it happens I’m going to sprinkle the ashes of my cat around my house today as a farewell. I’ve got some people who knew and loved my cat coming over so we can all say goodbye.

Even so I still miss my cat and you will miss your dog but find peace you did the right thing for her.

Glad to hear she got her fav food, same with me.. I had two dogs, Princess Leia and Obi Won Kenobi.... Leia was the one that passed and Obi has stayed alive til this day, but I only give Obi pizza crust lol.... He eats too much anyways, dude is fat as hell... Great that you are doing better, time always heals.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm glad that you made arrangements so that she could pass away in your house, that is a rare privilege and I wish more people were able to do this. I hope you share pics. Sounds like she was loved and had an amazing life

I hope you don’t mind but I read your posts to some friends who are here for my cat’s memorial. Your post brought some tears both for my cat and pets we have lost. You have a lot of sympathy from Minnesota.

An amazing post and pretty familiar. Having someone visit the home for that last appointment is pretty optimal.

So sorry for your loss and giving my dog an extra scritch (she's very old, sitting right next to me right now, but not for that much longer, I know).

There can be a lot of ugliness and pettiness here but I think for the most part Clutchfans are good people and when it comes to things like this we see how much humanity there is here.

I have a mobile vet on the way to put down my Yoko. Named for Yoko Ono, because when she started yowling, she sounded just like her namesake. She got a respritory infection and just stopped eating. Tried force feeding and it didn't take. She can barely breathe, and is skin and bones. She used to be a chubby little roly-poly. Street cat, but probably 15 or 16. Maybe not the brightest or most charamatic cat ever, but not a mean bone on her body. Just wanted to lay on your chest and purr.

Otto, really sorry to hear about your cat. It’s part of life that we outlive our pets but still sad.
