We are gonna witness step 2 of 5 in Dubin’s transition from enigmatic unknown RP to solid SP, otherwise known as the “Ronel Blanco Path to Glory”.
The one hitting .375 with a 15% strikeout rate who is a very good defensive catcher who all the pitchers love? Nah.
He’s been making lineups based on splits vs the pitchers. It makes sense in theory but I still think I’d rather see Dubon over Loperfido. Regardless, Cabbage isn’t really an upgrade over Salazar at this point. He’s a better defensive catcher than Diaz, and it’s important we keep Diaz as fresh as possible for the stretch run, especially considering he’s going to catch more this year than he ever has in a season.
In a vacuum I agree with this statement. However this team is not deep enough offensively right now. Salazar catching and Diaz at DH is better than starting any of the 4 guys on the bench. I am really hoping to add 2 impact bats at the deadline.
I understand. And I say we really only have 9 healthy MLB position players on this roster - and only 5-6 that are good enough to start regularly.
It knocks a better bat out of the lineup and weakens the defense as well. It also ****s us in case of emergency at the catcher spot (if diaz is dh)
is royce lewis in the lineup for the twins? this mfer always come through in the clutch for twins against astros.
