The forecasts have really shifted a lot since yesterday and I worry after it’s over the Yucatán completely it’s going to keep moving north. There’s a 4 pm update on the NHC forecast. If people could gamble on NHC updates, I’d bet it’s centered between Corpus and Port Lavaca/Victoria. Just a $40.00 bet.
Not a bad bet there. They may not move it that drastically yet, but if these trends continue the cone should shrink to a precise area +/- a hundred miles or so. Expect watches/warnings to go out later today as well. People need to be paying attention to this and preparing like a strong hurricane is coming. It's better safe than sorry in situations like like this that are evolving by the hour.
I just want you to know, I’m refreshing this thread to get your thoughts on it. Otherwise, I’m following space city guys on twitter and local weather guys. Thanks!! No pressure…we’re all counting on you!
Ha! Don’t count on me, count on the NHC! The trend is not our friend though. Latest track above by @marks0223 .. and this excerpt from their discussion is no bueno - basically more shifts towards SE Texas are likely
These are the last six NHC forecast track updates. It’s trending north/east. Anything in the gulf to stop this trend?
Run after run the icon was showing a Galveston landfall and most thought it was out to lunch. It's never been thought of as on par with the euro or gfs, but if it ends up being correct there will be a lot of questions asked.
One minute, you’re zoned out looking at random Beryl maps and models, the next minute you’re riding the first evacuation bus out of Katy.
Well, damnit. It is gonna come. Now I'll have to wash it again. I was gonna put some ceramic spray on it this weekend.
Well damned I was just talking to some Other Stros fans at the game yesterday who live in Sugarland but were visiting family in Mn that I had heard Beryl will not hit the Houston area directly but could bring a lot of rain. And now one of the predictions is a direct hit?
