That is simply unsustainable for the vast majority of people.

That is $2,500 a month - just for insurance. That does not include the cost of a mortgage or property taxes.

While I tend to be more liberal than some (for an American), this is why I push back when some Democrats claim the economy has recovered and that Americans have it good right now.

I don't really blame the Democrats or the Republicans for the insurance costs being so high - I think it is a complicated issue, but I do believe that Biden does himself no favors bragging about the economic recovery.

Yeah - okay, then find companies that want to insure Californians under the current rules and situation in California.

I will give Democrats credit, they are not as quick to politicize this type of stuff compared to some Republicans..... some of those idiots laughing about California are going to see that the same issues will happen in Florida and Texas - and they won't have any better solution than California does.

The latest video from the local San Francisco affiliate said the insurance company left cause of high costs and regulation.
Especially those homes there because WE KNOW those are old homes built in 1920 and costs $ 2 million.

what insurance company will insure it if the big names aren’t ?

    https://www.bankrate.com/insurance/homeowners-insurance/carriers-exit-california-home-insurance/

Seven of California’s largest property insurers, State Farm, Allstate, Farmers, USAA, Travelers, Nationwide and Chubb recently decided to limit new homeowners policies in the Golden State, raising questions about the stability of the California home insurance market.

Home Insurance companies are starting to pull out there. I wouldn't be surprised if a statewide housing slump is declared by March 2025.

Imagine paying 300k for a house in Jacksonville...

    Not changing the topic.

Climate change and inflation is making more housing across states uninsurable.

I like the singular focus. Shows effort and grit.
