Houston social media wannabe Rockets reporters were all circle jerking each other with their wild Sengun takes. They still are but in more subtle ways. We went from lob threat players replacing Sengun to trading Sengun for established stars, but the hate is still there.

It's a small group of people who have been die-hard Rockets fans for a long time, like many of us here. They talk to each other all the time and affirm each other and look for any hint to affirm their prior takes (like "Sengun is bad on defense"). It's a bit of group think.

They were clearly wrong about his potential and performance. None of them has admitted that so far, though.

Instead, some of them get very angry when their prior takes get pointed out, and they still always want to draft centers, trade for centers, trade Sengun, want to anoint Amen as "the guy" (because they know it's not Green), etc. Maybe it comes with being a die-hard fan who invested a lot more time and effort in his hobby than most that it is seen as a personal attack when someone points out prior takes and that they were objectively wrong.

    It is what it is.

Do you include the so called Houston media and their leaked news about Sengun into the category of "small group?"

Start with Jonathan Feigen, Kelly Ito, the owner of this site, Jackson Caitlin, who plays the both sides, and go down the list...I am not sure if Sengun will ever be accepted and embraced fully as a Rockets no matter how successful he will be on the floor. The so called fandom will blame him regardless for every failure, even if it is others' fault...thats why I think the relationship is toxic to all sides and thats why I think Sengun should be traded sooner than later. I wish things were different but they are not!

I am a Rockets fan first and foremost (and have been for over 25 years), so I don't want our best player to be traded.

I also don't remember Feigen ever having written anything where he would have pushed for lesser players to start over Sengun. I have read a lot of praise from Jackson Gatlin for Sengun.

Any player can fairly be criticized, and his weaknesses/areas for improvement can be pointed out. Sengun should not be exempt from that.

Fans of any player should grow a thicker skin.

The only thing I am pointing out is that there is a small group of Rockets influencers who never believed in him much (would have been willing to trade him for AJ Griffin, Jaden Ivey, a bag of chips, would have wanted to start Bruno Fernando and Mo Bamba over him, singled him out for Rockets' problems on defense when others were much worse defenders, etc. etc.).

They are entitled to their opinion. But they were wrong about how good he is back then, and they are still wrong about him now - in my opinion.

You are entitled to wanting him to be traded. But don't expect the fan bases of other teams to never criticize your favourite player either.

I don't want him to be traded. I want the Rockets to win a championship, and I remain convinced that Sengun can play a huge role in that.

How many times you throw him under the bus and have a healthy relationship with him? Bruno Fernando started before Sengun…Criticism of a player is not the issue here. Neither the thickness of my skin. Anybody can be criticized but it’s been flat out disrespect and dishonesty I am pointing out. If someone was protecting the kid internally like in the case of Jokic’s coach protecting him against media heads, it would have been different. On the contrary, we all saw Feigen, Kelly and others talking about insider news, leaks about Sengun being lazy, being replaced, being traded…No one protected the kid, stopping the rumors early on. Kelly recently said there’s no way they will offer him max extension even next.

I can’t point out to specific articles Feigen wrote but there are plenty. Gaitlin agrees with everyone maybe because he’s a nice guy.

The rumours about him being lazy (which I don't believe) came from one person. Probably not worth reacting to at all, from the perspective of the organization.

Can you point me to where Kelly would have said the Rockets won't pay Sengun the max, even next season?

Even if he said it, Kelly is almost always wrong.

I would bet anyone that - barring catastrophic injury - Sengun will get the max next season. If the Rockets don't want to give it to him, many other teams will.

Just enjoy watching the kid and the Rockets - it will all be fine.

I don’t have a twitter account. I assume you’re thinking what I said is outrageous. Why? See the problem is you immediately attacked my character instead of saying why you disagreed.

At this stage to me means at this stage of their careers, not this year.

I enjoy watching Sengun and Udoka’s Rockets. I enjoy how Udoka is improving Sengun’s skill sets. However, I am again pointing out the toxic environment around all that.

That just says that they aren't getting the contracts before the start of next season...just like Maxey. He didn't say anything about them not offering it next season. Unless they trade him or he has a severe injury or they decide not to match if he goes into restricted free agency (which would be crazy), there is no way he will not end up with the max.

Not long than 1 year ago, someone on RW was trading Sengun for Dyson Daniels, then trading Sengun for Mark Williams, then trading Sengun for Walker Kessler. You'd think he'd learn, but no. :) :) :)

Yes he will get the Max no matter what. It is just timing. Even an injury wouldn’t keep someone from offering the max in RFA unless it is career threatening. The whole league game plans for Alpi. I have not heard a single NBA coaching staff or player not extol what a great young player he is. Is he a superstar? Is he our best player in the future? Who knows, but he is a rookie max player. No doubt he will get it.

Agreed, this was my interpretation as well. Udoka clearly values Sengun as a franchise player and has had appropriate influence to ensure the front office views him that way. Waiting to extend him is smart from a roster construction standpoint due to his relatively low cap hold being drafted 16th.

With FVV's 3rd year team options and all the expiring salary, this team has ample flexibility going into summer 2025 to male a major addition then go over the cap to extend Sengun for his much deserved contract. All he has to do his continue doing what he's doing.

    What's that? Who sends it?

Curious choice to put AJ Griffin in but not Sengun and Tari and Cam and FVV and Brooks lol.
