    I guess.

That brings up another point, it doesn't look like LeBron and Klutch have that much confidence in the boy's early development because they're locking him into a deal that would pay him around two million 4 years into his career. Being a second round pick they had a blank canvas to paint his first contract on and decided on a league minimum guaranteed contract. o_O

If he's good, the Lakers will love paying him the league minimum in year 4. He'd be underpaid at that point. He could have signed a Reaves type contract and then get real money a couple of years into his career.

He isn't, and everybody knows it.

Best case scenario he develops a good enough jumper to be not a complete joke. The Lakers don't want to give away this charity money, and everybody knows it. You can find a million Bronny level players just desperate for a 2 ways deal.

    This all may be true.

But, I think it's a fair argument that people really only seem to care about nepotism when it's an employee leveraging they're power.

I don't know why everyone gets so worked up that Lebron is so good at basketball that it makes his boss want to hire other people to keep him happy. But, no one cares when a business owner directly gives their kids a job. In fact, you often see people look at it as a proud moment to pass something down to their heirs.

Both should be based on merit. But, that's not how the world works. It never has. People are just too brainwashed to see that having your kids run billion dollar corporations has a much bigger impact than pressuring your boss to hire your son for the last roster spot.

Passing things to heirs is a different discussion, more about wealth distribution. All people, rich and poor across the world pass whatever they can when they die.

Having said that, what's Patrick Fertittas rep in the GARM? I 've never seen a job where somebodies idiot son (or some other favoritism) was put in charge and people were happy about it, it's pretty much universally hated. It's just flat out not true to say people never care, they just usually aren't in a position to do much. You don't win internet points complaining about Dave's son ruining the office.

Nepotism isn't popular, anywhere. Sports has been the one bastion of meritocracy in the world, rich or poor, race, family connection, doesn't matter if you are good. So when interlopers like him or Thanasis ruin that image...yeah people don't like it.

I’m going to refer to him as gt Bronny, because garbage time will be the only time he’ll be on the court.

Well yeah, if he busts out, it would be on LeBron but I doubt most people will actually seriously blame LBJ because almost every NBA player would want to play with his son. That is logic.

The story should also be that LA got Knecht in the same draft, a pretty good player.

NBA should sue Lakers/LBJ for this obvious scheme to skirt the salary cap.

In the spirit of competition and sport, I hope the Lakers make sure this young man gets at least 30 minutes per game playing time.
