buzzwords and bolded text are cool and all but without context it really saids nothing. But I suspect this is not really an attempt for a nuance conversation. According to a 1994 Gallup survey, 58% of African Americans supported the crime bill, compared to 49% of white Americans. Most Black mayors, who were grappling with a record wave of violent crime, did so as well. As he joined a delegation of mayors lobbying Congress to back the bill, Baltimore Mayor Kurt L. Schmoke said, “We’re trying very hard to explain to Congress that this is a matter that needs bipartisan support. Two-thirds of the Congressional Black Caucus members voted for its passage, as did the only Black senator at the time, illinois’ Carol Moseley Braun. But since we are on the subject of presidential candidates treating black people unfairly. Morse says she reported her experience to the Human Rights Commission, and then returned to the apartment building. After she was offered a lease, the black man who had tried to rent the apartment entered the office with a city human rights commissioner, and the three of them confronted the building superintendent. "He said, 'Well, I'm only doing what my boss told me to do — I am not allowed to rent to black tenants,' " Morse says. The commissioner asked the building superintendent to take him to his boss. That turned out to be Trump Management.
i have posted this before but I guess its time to post it again. saving the economy? Obama’s Last Three Years Of Job Growth All Beat Trump’s Best Year https://www.forbes.com/sites/chuckj...th-all-beat-trumps-best-year/?sh=1f811d5b6ba6 this was before COVID. President Trump says he ended the "war on coal." But industry casualties have accelerated under his turbulent leadership, with coal plant retirements eclipsing those that occurred during the last four years of Barack Obama's presidency. https://www.eenews.net/stories/1063430425 According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (USEIA), total U.S. coal production in 2019 was 705.3 tons, down 6.8 percent from the previous year and the lowest level of output in over 41 years. In 2018, production likewise fell by 2.4 percent. According to the Kentucky Annual Economic Report 2020, the state’s coal production likewise fell 5.2 percent in 2018 to 39.6 million tons, the lowest level of output since 1954. https://www.kentucky.com/opinion/op-ed/article244088642.html how about farmers? The rate of bankruptcies were at its highest in 8 years. This was also before COVID. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...t-an-eight-year-high-court-data-idUSKBN1ZT2YE The CHINA-US deficit also hit record highs, The overall trade deficit was $67.1 billion, reflecting a surplus in services trade with the rest of world — the highest since 2006. The deficit for U.S. goods trade by itself was $83.9 billion, the highest ever recorded. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/10/06/goods-trade-deficit-august-record-high-426739 what exactly did he do to instill so much confidence in economic policies beside increase the deficit by 8 trillion dollars, the most amount of any president in history in 4 YEARS. And he lost ALOT of jobs, but its covid, right? I am sure you give Biden the same benefit of the doubt for the same inflation happening all over the world cause of COVID too. Nevermind that the US had the biggest inflation decrease out of any country in the G7. as for bringing peace abroad? I guess by doing nothing when stuff goes down, its kind of like peace. Kerch Strait incident On 25 November 2018, three small Ukrainian naval vessels – a tugboat and two gunboats – attempted to transit the Kerch Strait from the Black Sea to the Azov Sea in order to reinforce the small Ukrainian naval force at the ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk. Russian coastguard vessels, backed by warplanes and helicopters, rammed and then fired on the ships, injuring six Ukrainian sailors, before detaining the vessels and their crew. Courts in Crimea have ordered the 23 Ukrainian crewmen to be held for two months pending trial. This was the first time that Russian forces had openly engaged Ukrainian forces; the seizure of Crimea and military involvement in eastern Ukraine were carried out by troops without insignia. Abqaiq–Khurais attack On 14 September 2019, drones were used to attack oil processing facilities at Abqaiq (Arabic: بقيق, romanized: Buqaiq) and Khurais (خريص) in eastern Saudi Arabia. The facilities were operated by Saudi Aramco, the country's state-owned oil company. Saudi Arabia has ramped up the pressure on Donald Trump to respond to a devastating strike on two major oil installations, displaying drone and missile technology it insisted showed the attack was “unquestionably sponsored by Iran”. Iran retaliates with missile attacks on U.S. troop locations in Iraq A former Pentagon spokeswoman has said the White House under former President Donald Trump had pressured the military to downplay injuries sustained by 110 US troops following a 2020 Iranian missile attack on a base in Iraq. there's plenty of other stuff like an assassination of an american journalist, the destablization of yemen, etc etc, that trump didnt bring any peace to.
It really is staggering how intentionally and happily stupid salvy, stroud your daddy and commodore are. (edited because it’s just not worth it.)
Yes. Mass incarceration works. I am surprised to see some of the likes on this post, but the Crime Bill was the best thing Biden ever did. It is telling that all of his supporters now try to distance him from it.
SMDH. The SCW Echo Chamber is trying to use this as a wedge issue to decrease black turnout for Biden. No need to bring in Biden supporters. Please try and keep up.
Seems like they both passed bills for increased vet benefits. Trump with the Mission Act. Biden with the Pact Act. I don't think Pride Month is what you're thinking with Veterans Day and Memorial Day. They still have to show up to work to get paid. Not sure how voting Republican will unglue children of their phones.
Good morning, I do not think that Joe Biden is responsible for the woke culture swinging to such extremes. It is the party. I'm all for living your life as you please. Don't care about abortion, don't care about gay marriage. But I don't want Trans men competing with legit women in sports. I'm a live and let live guy but I do not like the fact at the college I worked at 2 years ago. There was a coming out day on campus on 9/11. Know what the college did not recognize. 9/11. I'm just generally dismayed that I and others on both sides of the aisle can't voice individual opinions without being personally verbally attacked by those who do not share the same mind set. Back in the day we would discuss and then go play horse shoes and drink beer. Again. I am a registered dem here in NY but I do not vote on party lines. Most all politicians are deeply flawed. I have made my money and have 3 years to retire at 60. Just want a nice cabin on the lake to play with my dog, drink some Titos, and cast a line. I guess I just don't like people telling me a can't use a gas lawnmower or stove. I don't want to be told I have to drive an electric vehicle. Something I would most likely do if it wasn't mandated by my crazy governess. Ps I don't even own a gun This is our world summed up in two minutes
My post was not a statement on whether or not the crime bill worked. There's plenty of data to show crime number dropping had more to with how successful the Clintons economy was.
There's a recognition for gay pride because theres countless moments in history where the gay community has been told there is something wrong with them. From things like the Lavender Scare to the American Psychiatric Association listing homosexuality in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) as a mental disorder, which stayed there till 1974, and more recent examples like conversion therapy. As a live and let live guy and a veteran, have you ever been told your service was a symbol that something was wrong with you? Of course there are specific moments like mistreatment of soldiers after vietnam but that's pretty different. There WAS this one guy who called dead US service members suckers but you don't seem to mind since you voting for him... I won't speak on the other stuff since we differ on the severity and accuracy of what you are saying so I'll leave it at that respectfully. I am definitely not one that would be mistaken for being politically correct but if you want to post an extreme comedic example of "our world summed up in two minutes", I will leave you with an example of my own. "When you're accustomed to privilege equality feels like oppression."
GM, I agree that it's harder for people to voice their opinions without getting attacked. Self censorship and public shaming feels unAmerican to me in terms of values. There's should definitely be a weight to your opinions but with the internet, poorly thought out opinions usually drown out others. Liberals have fought long and hard to take away the moral high ground from Christian Cons. When Christians controlled public opinion, it was easy to spot where they felt short and unchristian-like. They shunned heretics and apostates just as bad as libs canceling someone from a viral vid. It's not ironic that Libs who once championed free speech, religion, and press are now being **** on for falling short. This moral righteousness isn't inherent to either party. You could call it a human trait where our failings fall short of the ideal, but there's an Americaness where they are both sides of the same coin. We projected our tribal tendencies with inflated meaning, where both sides will quickly point to each other for ruining America, which is mostly projecting our powerlessness of a shrinking and more complex world. The internet has made our lives smaller and less unique in a planet with 7+Billion people. We don't compare with folks from across the street or think we made it by scoring 4 touchdowns in a single game and banging the prom queen anymore. We know what the "real" best is through our feeds even if the place we live in isn't. So like your vid, we prop ourselves onto internet standards of enlightenment or wordliness, and cling onto ever weirder self imposed identities to edge a little higher from basicness. There's probably the same vid showing that for cons (Baptist?), it's just not as obvious and jarring because it was baked in from our childhoods. That's not to say there are real **** sandwiches unique to either side, but many of these issues like climate change or electric cars have been sidelined with paralysis for a good 30-ish years. It'll get hotter. While it won't kill us all, the world will change and probably be even more complicated. You can disagree, but action with goals and measures of success is better than inaction for 3 decades. I don't think Dems are good with goal setting and making that action workable. Older Cons were good with that though. I grew up in the 80s and still feel cringey with some lgbt stuff in public. I think that's conditioning from a different era which has made me try harder to understand gay and trans better on an individual level. Maybe libs have overreached with trying to make trans more inclusive with all their forced and strained messages for a fairly small minority, but I genuinely think our society should figure it out despite initial pains. Having kids kill themselves (even if only on the inside) with uncertainty, shame, neglect, or abuse from that stigma is sad and unnecessary in order to keep old appearances where these kind of things were swept under the carpet. Without being a hard derail, I don't think everything is settled science, but people and culture don't just change on a dime either. Laws, Pope-like decrees, or scientific studies with Proof are just tools to hack that process. Anyhow, I believe many of your points aren't entirely political but rather a way to vent out wtf is changing among newer generations. Their beliefs and how they came with that understanding is different. For better or worse, their grasp of the digital world is different than ours, so I wouldn't be too hard on them as the older folks were on us when we were kids. They had to deal with some of the best or formative years of their lives being locked up like the rest of us. If AI does half the miraculous **** people are promising in 5 years, they are the ones who have to pivot violently while you are retired, and I can coast with my senior lvl knowledge and experience before everyone else is replaced. So cut them a little slack because they have to figure it out much better than the fogies posting on here. There's plenty to wrestle in a not so simpler time. Their youth and ideas are the biggest things going for them in this era where the things to doom scroll keep adding up. I do miss a simpler era of debating ideas but people still got shot or stabbed over arguments in the older days. Being kinder in person can make a difference, but I definitely use this forum to vent some of the **** going on.
As a person who grew up in Kemah before it became the affluent area that it is now. My dad was an offshore construction worker snd mom was a school bus driver for the clear creek school district. We didn't have much. I wandered aimlessly through my teen years until I flunked out of college and parents told me I have 6 months to find a place to live. I went the way of the Air Force and did college over on the GI bill. I guess some of my sentiment and anger stems from the fact that I figured it out and made a decent life for my family. Never asked for college loan forgiveness. I now live in NY. We recycle EVERYTHING. When I visit my parents I see them burning the trash in Woodville I bite my tongue. But I also don't like my life choices being mandated by others. I will be back in Texas in 3 years once I retire. I suspect I will be some old recluse on Lake Sam Rayburn. I'm proud of what I have achieved. And I will make no excuses for being upper middle class. I had to endure 30 years in the shitehole that is New York. So there is that.
When I refer to that quote, by no means am I referring to class or even shaming someone for their achievements. It really was to point that something like gay marriage should be a baseline not an achievement. As difficult as your teens years seem to be, you were able to apply for the Air Force. Now imagine if you were barred from any federal employment because you were a straight man. Eisenhower signed Executive Order 10450, which barred gay and lesbian Americans from being employed by the federal government. With the excuse that a federal employee could be blackmailed because of their sexuality, the federal government targeted gays and lesbians in what became known as the Lavender Scare. It was not fully revoked till 2017. If thats on the record, what do you think people were saying off record? Why are you angry about figuring it out and making it less challenging for the next generation? It took me 10+ years to pay off student loans, on top of scholarships, financial aid and my parents taking out loans as well. Why would I be envious and upset at someone for not wanting to go thru that? The whole point of humanity is an build an improvement for the next generation. We can argue about whats an improvement but ever increasing and crippling debt for an education should not be the point where we stop. This idea of not wanting life choices being mandated by others is really just fools gold. You just happened to like or not mind the things that republicans is mandating right now. You are a bit of stream of thought in your posting so its hard to reply but recycling is really not worth getting even a little upset about. Especially since I know how NY recycles and its really pretty low effort. Maybe you don't feel like it does anything for the future but you are also a 56 year old with an eye on retirement. Look no further than countries who are in the crosshairs of climate change to see how serious of an issue they think it is.
I hear he also used to put quarters at the top of backboards and grab them toooooooo. But that also didnt seem to convince Iran not to shoot at US troops either.
From your own link Pentagon officials have repeatedly said there has been no effort to minimise or delay information on concussive injuries. But the disclosures following Tehran’s attack have renewed questions over the US military’s policy regarding how it internally reports suspected brain injuries and whether they are treated publicly with the same urgency as loss of limb or life. US President Donald Trump appeared to play down the brain injuries last month, saying he “heard that they had headaches and a couple of other things” So, appeared to down play and The Pentagon denying efforts to minimize or delay information has turned into Trump pressured to downplay injuries lol.... Get out of here, you aren't being serious. Trump had just taken out a very bad guy, no casualties to our troops..... The world was a better place for it but the Trump derangement folk gonna Trump derangement....
I didn't get benefits or help, so why should you? It's selfish mentality. I have healthcare, but am not against healthcare for those who can't afford it. I think healthcare is something nobody should have to worry about. The same with education. It's no different than people whose parents or grandparents weren't Americans, yet they want all immigration stopped now that they have their golden ticket to living here. They think they are decent law abiding citizens yet think the other immigrants are all criminals, rapists, gang bangers, and murderers, whether they're from Europe, Central America, Mexico, or anywhere else. I've seen so much fear mongering and hate spread on here it disgusts me. That goes double for the immigrants spreading their toxic views. You have some far right hate mongerer running for President spreading his filth, and he had wives from other countries. But, they were white Europeans. He was raised on a golden spoon, yet doesn't give a damn what others can afford. He went bankrupt 6 times with daddy's inheritance, yet cries about others getting help to succeed in life, or simply live without worrying about their healthcare or such. Pompous selfish human beings. It's just the opposite of what the Bible teaches, for those claiming to be Christians.
Man, the backpedaling is going to be something to watch when more of this Epstein-Trump stuff comes out. But no sympathy, you guys had multiple opportunities to flee that sinking ship. Trump's legacy will be a stain on this country.
He's already stained this country with his filthy, disgusting, hate fueled mindset. The damage has already been done, and he will intensify it beyond belief.
