Threw those out there individually because I’m interested in them all individually.
Yainer, yandy, Altuve, Pena, Bregman, Alvarez, Dubon/loperfido, Meyers/tucker
    crochet/brown/framber/JV/blanco/Garcia
    Hader/miller/abreu/scott/Arrighetti/LMJ/Martinez

2025 you replace Bregman with Whitcomb but have the whole rest of the team back.

2026 you are still really good when Framber and Tucker leave. hope Whitcomb and Baez are good and you still are a World Series contender. 27 is so far out we could all be dead.

Yandy is a ****ing dude….. could probably play for the Texans!

I’d take him. He’d also intimidate the **** out of any Mariner that tried to **** with us.

Strictly from a baseball standpoint that works for both

I doubt Crane would take on the extra money for a guy without star power though

Everybody is going to go after White SOx players. Let them. It's a diversion.
Dana flanks* all of the GMs.
    The actual target: Justin Steele.

Really good 3/4th starter. Probably a Cy Young contender after a year under our Advance alien pitching technology.

That's a good catch. The bad vibes might give the Cubs more incentive to move him out of the league.

I'm moving Chas if possible and platooning Dubon, Cabbage,Leon. I'm also carrying 3 catchers.

Trade for Vlad and Flaherty and I will be happy, although I would really hope they can add another leverage reliever.

He's on a pretty reasonable deal though.

Career .287 hitter with a .373 OBP and doesn't strike out often. Reminds me of a Yuli Gurriel type hitter...he would be a great fit for this lineup.

Next 30 day roster turnover fantasy:

    In: Guerrero, Gausman, Garcia
Out: Montero, Arrighetti, McCormick, Melton, Blubaugh, Ullola, Whitley

    Flaherty has a back injury

About the worst time possible for him to have an issue cause he has been great

    Oh I fully agree

Just saying with us already in the tax, I’m not sure Crane would approve it

Crane loves to acquire big names and I think if there was a deal for Vladdy he would ok that $$, just not sure he would for Yandy. I think Yandy would be great here

    I like those three guys

But with our overall pitching situation I would be surprised if we move Arrigjetti, BlueBalls and Ullola

Ullola is not on the radar for a callup this season. With that trade on 7/31 the SP depth chart would be:
    1. Framber
    2. Blanco
    3. Brown
    4. Gausman
    5. Garcia
    6. Bloss
    7. Verlander*
    8. Gusto
    9. Gordon
    10. Lauer/Henley

With McCullers rehabbing by then. I am also waiting to see how the treat Dubin. If he has a higher pitch count his next start they may be just stretching him out to make him a full-on SP for the rest of this season.

    Jake Cronenworth
    For
    Rafael Montero and Chas McCormick

The Padres were shopping Cronenworth in the offseason, after a poor 2023. He is owed $12M per year through 2030.

Boegarts is starting a rehab and expected back within a week. Arraez, Kim, and Machado round out the infield and they have Solano and Rosario who have played well as backups.

The OF has played well but Tatis is hurt and Profar is a rental and there is little depth behind the starters.

    Heyman:

The Astros, now a clear threat to win the West yet again, seek a starter (or two) and a hitter (possibly a 1B if it’s a clear upgrade).

Their dream target is thought to be Diamondbacks 1B Christian Walker, a free agent to be.

Luis Robert is the likeliest of positional stars to be dealt. One rival suggested the ask is high considering injury history, but that’s typical for early July.

The Mariners need offense. Robert remains a logical target.

One other idea for the White Sox: Bring back Jose Abreu, who looked done as a player, to guide all their Cuban talent.

Other hitters who could go: Joc Pederson and Eugenio Suarez if the D’backs fade, plus Brent Rooker, Taylor Ward, Randy Arozarena, Tommy Pham and possibly Cody Bellinger.

Might the forward-thinking Rays trade Isaac Paredes or Yandy Diaz, too?

The hitting market has taken a big hit with Pete Alonso and J.D. Martinez almost surely staying.

The D’backs don’t want to sell, after improving a World Series roster in winter. They’ve been without three top starters, and Jordan Montgomery hasn’t been himself (6.44 ERA).

The extra innings from seven straight ALCS appearances may be behind the Astros’ injury epidemic among starters, too.

In Justin Verlander’s case, he won’t hit his 140-inning trigger for his $35M vesting option, saving the Mets $17.5M — big for a team in 110 percent tax territory.

I just can't see Crane picking up 46 million the next two years for a pitcher that will be 34/35 and has an era approaching 5 this year

If he were a rental there would be a better chance of Crane okaying the money for the rest of this year in hopes we could get him on track

I'm also more than a little bit worried about counting on Blanco as the #2. He did pitch 122 innings last year between AAA and Houston, but he will close to that at the ASB. Now he is already 30 so it isn't like he is a 24 year old hot shot that they are going to protect like a baby, but do they start cutting his innings back at some point so he is available for the playoffs?

I think if we add a starter it is either

    1. A Rental
    2. A younger controllable guy

I just can't see Crane adding a guy owed that much money

Actually, listening to Mike Stanton, he said that (unlike hitters) pitchers fully develop and are at their peak later.

A hitter may be at his peak at 26-27

But because the human body's joint and muscular system isn't fully developed until well into the 20's a pitcher is more likely to be able to handle more innings at 30 than at 26.

Skimming around the trade market for potential 1B options, aside from Vlad there really aren't any. Feels like 1B just aren't the hitters they used to be. So I looked at the leaguewide stats to see if my feeling was right... and it was.

It's still the 3rd best offensive position with an OPS+ of 106 . The number was roughly 111 the last 6 seasons. The 15 prior seasons it was roughly 115-120, and back in the 90s it was always over 120.

One of the positions ahead of it is DH, no surprise there. The other position putting up slightly better numbers.....is shortstop. I can't begin to state how absurd that would have seemed not too long ago. As recently as 2015 SS's posted a 91 OPS+
