I think I heard Kelvin Sampson say the athletic department was broke. That doesn’t sound good.

If we're sitting on any cash it means we're doing something wrong.

We should be spending every ounce of revenue we have.

We have 3 coaches that should have been fired already and they still have jobs because there is no money for buyouts.

I am still shocked they fired Dana with all the money he was owed especially when he had Tillman in his corner.

3 coaches in non revenue sports I assume. It probably isn't about the buyout. It's about the ROI.

Dana was fired because we cannot afford to have him sucking ass during our Big 12 debut.

The financial impact of firing him was bad, the financial impact of keeping him would be terrible.

We could be a much better team this year and have a worse record than last year.

It feels like it'll be that kind of year.

Something tells me we will make a change at QB before the year is over.

    What a pathetic football conference.

BigX? has 5 teams in espn's (meaningless I know) post-spring top 25. ACC has 4. Utah may be the best team in the 2 conferences.

Agreed the ACC is worse, especially because the conference will blow up later this month if FSU and Clemson announce they are leaving. A very complicated situation.

But the B12 is still a sorry football conference. Hopefully old man Cam Rising returns to form and Utah has a special season.

Well, when you have every big-big-time program concentrated in 2 conferences...the other 2 are naturally going to be not that great :)

It’s interesting, in the transfer portal age, to see the hand-picked quarterback from the previous coach stick around for the new coach.

It really is. Especially considering that Zeon Chriss is now in the fold and as I understand it he had Willie's eye at Tulane but for one reason or another ended up at ULALA.

I think Donovan is going to have an extremely short leash. I hope he ends up an academic weapon as well, because I think his days as a football weapon are coming to an end.

This might be posted elsewhere, but is any of this accurate? I feel like college football has the most online-people pretending to be insiders than any other sport. Hard to know what’s real.

FSU doesn't fit the B1G and brings precious little to the SEC because it already has UF. Similar for Clemson since the SEC already has USCe and they bring nothing to the B1G. Also, supposedly the B1G has no intention of adding non-AAU schools.

If the ACC collapses, instead of Clemson and FSU being sought after, UNC and UVA will be the big prizes. I've read where the respective states may try to force NC State and VaTech to be part of the package. IMO, the B1G will win the battle for these two. If the SEC offers to also add NC State and VaTech, they will win.

FSU and Clemson are 15th and 17th in NCAA football revenue. They're made for the SEC, and I hope somehow UNC and UVA want to follow along.

Not sure what you mean by "football revenue", but what's important is the incremental TV revenue they would bring to the SEC. With USCe and UF already in the conference, maybe not enough to admit them.

Perhaps as consolation prizes if they miss out on UNC and UVA.

    FSU
    Clemson
    North Carolina
    Utah
    Kansas St.
    Kansas

This isn't a bad conference and will be able to win occasionally in the playoffs against the big boys.

The UNLV game is going to be very interesting. Houston has NO business losing to UNLV at home, but I think it may very well happen. If it does, it's not necessarily the end of the world because this is not your usual UNLV team. Still, this game is not an ideal way to open the season. If you win, you were supposed to win, but if you lose, a lot of people are going to get very upset. It's going to be interesting.
