Without Green and Steph combined with aging, he'll be a glorified role player. Very minimal impact for Dallas. In reality he is basically being paid to be a role player in the modern NBA economy, but it still seems like a lot of money.
Klay is running on fumes... and with no Carlisle there or Donny Nelson.... Jason Kidd and Cuban are going to do some weird ****.
He's still effective, but he's a shell of his former self. And I'm still not that high on the Mavs since they're relying heavily on Kyrie to stay healthy at age 32. This does help keep the Lakers from improving at all though while it weakens the Warriors, so the Rockets are in great shape for at least a play-in spot next season.
Klay is washed. Kyrie, Klay, and Luka don't play D and they're all going to start. Klay used to be a good defender but he's a turnstile now. They should've chased KCP instead.
With his minutes limited, I think Klay could give them a couple of good years of deadeye shooting. If the Mavs play him 30 mpg, this will definitely explode in their face. They should limit him to 10-12 mins each half, with some exceptions. The whole point is for him to be ready for the playoffs. The only playoff seeding they should care about is being top 4, but even that isn't important.
At this stage of his career its definitely a head scratcher as to why he would take a three year deal when there were four year deals out there. Dallas isn't that much better with him on the team I'm not even sure he moves the needle for them. Strange for Klay he was looking for a longer deal.
Uhhh if he was gonna sign for 15M why didnt he just resign with GSW? I dont get it he gets mad GSW didnt offer him the max but signs a lesser deal with another team.
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Also, the Mavericks are a better team and similar contracts are not so similar when you compare Cali and Texas taxes.
