Aaron Holiday stays with Rockets

I'm sorry... why?

Nothing against Holiday but I don't get it.

 

Cant judge until find out if year 2 is a team option. I suspect it is.
Then its a tradeable contract.

If year 2 IS NOT a team option... i'd expect/think they might as well just sign Alpi to that extension.
Any move that adds on salary in 25/26, then giving up the dream of space for FAs next offseason.

So really suspect year 2 is a team option.

 

FML. I was hoping he would sign somewhere else just to clear up minutes for everyone.
Don't get me wrong. He is a good player to have but there are no minutes available for the rook.

 

Stone thinks this off-season signing will put the Rockets in the playoffs…Stone upgrade the SMALL FORWARD position…stop playing with bench guys

 

Uh what? Does this mean Sheppard is going to the g league? Don't understand this one at all.

 

Well... now we've got that 8th string PG situation figured out.

Very happy about this, the Holiday brothers are winners and help build a winning culture. He can shoot, which helps our biggest need and helped us to wins last year.

Jrue and Justin have both won championships and Aaron was part of the team that went from terrible to a .500 record last year.

 

Guys, for all the "superstar potential" you've placed on Sheppard, he's just a kid one year out of high school, with zero professional experience. And we're no longer the Tanking Rockets™. Udoka's not going to give him the keys to anything until he's proven he can succeed at this level. This year, I see him with the Vipers for a few games, then maybe coming off the bench in an instant offense role. Anything more than that will be gravy.

Holiday is the backup PG until Sheppard proves he's up to the task.

 

Rockets are trying to seriously compete for a playoff berth next season…probably don’t trust rookie Reed right out the gate as backup PG

 

Sensible. Insurance for the first half, when Reed is being prepped. If Reed is ready by the second half, the $5m salary is decent salary filler for trade.

Also this prevents PHX from signing him so I guess that’s good too.

No backup PG is as good as AH from a cost / benefit perspective I think.

 

As others have said, it's the second year that's head scratching.

 

I'm really surprised that he is staying. Maybe they plan to play him at center or power forward. But seriously, very shocked to see that we are keeping him around. I thought he had earned himself some minutes from someone looking for a shooter off the bench.

 

Big fan of Holiday, great shooter and very good on defense...he is spark from the bench and I believe Ime loves this guy

This is a good signing

 

This only makes sense if there's a trade coming to dump a lot of players

 

Stone might be cooking a deal in which FVV is included right?
