They can trade them for a player. Or kick the can down the road potentially the way the Rockets just did.
What the Thunders are doing now shows how important it is to patiently go throw a proper stress-test. The Rockets are far from there but it’s crucial not to make a hurried move before getting clarity on the strengths and weaknesses of the young guys and understanding what is truly missing. Make the playoff first. Scan the opponents to figure out the proper strategy. Evaluate the young guys thoroughly TOGETHER to gauge what are the long term organic pieces. My biggest fear is TF waking up one day and having Devine calling and demands the FO to trade the wrong pieces for a wrong guy at the wrong time.
Yeah... looks like a new WC powerhouse for 2 - 3 years. OKC DAL MN DEN PHX MEM LAC SAC (when/ if get BI) ROX (if we get Isaac, I think we move up 3 spots) LAL GSW UTH SAS POR
Dallas is closer to Phoenix than those other teams. They are cooked after this Mickey Mouse Finals run. Memphis will be the best team in the West next year barring injuries. I still don't buy OKC. SGA still strikes me as a rich man's Kevin Martin. Minnesota won't ever do anything as long as Gobert/KAT are vital to their succcess. Thinking next year will be: 1) Grizz 2) Nuggs 3) Wolves 4) Thunder 5) Rox 6) Mavs 7) Kings 8) Suns 9) Clips 10) Lakers And the Celtics will sleepwalk to the Finals again.
I was mainly thinking groupings... but I see your point. I disagree re: Memphis and I think OKC showed what they can do W/O Harty last year. I would probably move LAC & PHX lower on my original posting (but once again... I was thinking [1] home PO teams [2] PO contenders [3] out of PO)
Rockets should be gunning to beat all the geriatric star teams like the Suns, Warriors, Clippers and Lakers. They should be better than those teams because those teams are going to be plagued with things like load management and injuries along with over the hill stars thinking they still got it.
I was more thinking about their existing roleplayers. Feels like an overpay for Hartenstein for sure, but then, we did spend almost as much on Dillon Brooks last offseason, so maybe that's just the going rate for a decent starter now.
Either sign Beasley or give Washington a couple of 2nd round picks or highly protected frp convertible to seconds for Brogdon. Send Brooks to the 76ers for a future 1st round pick or a couple of seconds. Then stop until the trade deadline at least.
Hartenstein has elite advanced defensive numbers, he or Lauri are perfect for the system. He brings so much toughness, you can safely ignore the little overpay. Against Dallas they should have shot the ball better.
What y'all think it would take for a 36yr old Steph Curry since the band is breaking up FVV + how man 1st?
OKC overpaid a bit for Hart, but this was the season to do so. They’ll have to start resigning their own guys and won’t have cap space for a while.
