So glad we got this game in today. Dorks talking cray about calling the game off. Scott has been amazing for the club. Player of the game from Sparky and Crew.
This is the kinda game the Astros used to win, but they generally haven’t this year. Taylor Scott with a well deserved win and clutch pitching. I’m still not sure how you can burn Hader warming up in that situation.
It’s a tough call. They played the top of the 9th without any concerns, and you already have to have your choice up and warming then. They made the right call to put the tarp on then/there (vs trying to play in the drizzle…. But then have the hard stuff hit without the tarp… would have added another 30 minutes of field prep at least). Some stadiums/umps don’t always make that preemptive call as they probably could have finished the 9th under the lighter rain. I’m also guessing it was more the 3 hour delay (a shorter delay and he maybe warms up again)… and at least he’s likely available for tomorrow’s day game when Pressly for sure out and Abreu iffy after 20+ pitches today.
Let's go 4-3 on this 7 game road stand. Let's go 5-1 on the home stand leading to the break. That's 51-45. We might be a game behind Seattle at that point.
They’re only 2 games back in the loss column…. Time for the annual “that’s all that matters” when factoring GB calculations.
17-8 is the best record? Fairly surprising. Do that the rest of the season and that's unbelievably 95 wins.
Man, this game was setting up for an L - Altuve's baserunning foolishness - terrible (non )foul call off Jose's foot - Jose getting ejected (and missing much of the game) after said horrible call - Hader being mis-used and unavailable Team is finding ways to win. This aint your April Astros
Thats better than any month they had last season… and tied for least losses in a month since the September 2019 Astros went 19-6.
