Jay, Craig, Carpenter, Schumaker, Freese, Ludwick That era of Cards were great at getting a mid/late 20's guy a career year and then never hearing from them again.
Absolutely. He is an MLB ready SS prospect on a team that is satisfied with their short stop. I would love to see what he could do at first base, or failing that see him traded for an MLB ready first base prospect on a team that is already set at first.
If they go in-house, I think Ullola is ultimately gonna be Pressly's replacement. That would be a nice outcome, but sticking as a starter with his stuff would be massive.
Fisher homered again today... and struck out in his other two at-bats. He did draw a walk in another plate appearance though!
Watching a late-inning reliever walk every other-ish batter is not something I want to watch. I love it though...get his feet wet in the 5/6th with a 4 run lead and see what happens
Ullola's already excellent stuff would play even better in single inning relief and there is always a place for that in the pen.
Jose Fleury's rehab is going well... he retired all six batters he faced, striking out one. Jaime Melendez allowed a hit, walked two, and struck out three in two scoreless, and Anthony Cruz allowed an unearned run on a passed ball, a hit, and struck out five in 5 innings as the FCL squad beat the Marlins 6-1. Esmil Valencia went 2-4 with an RBI single and scored twice. Juan Sierra hit his 3rd home run of the season to give the DSL Blue team a 5-1 win over the Royals' Ventura team. Luis Aguilar allowed a hit, walked one, and struck out four over 4 scoreless. Aguilar is a 20-year-old RHP from Panama who signed last January 15 and is in his second season in the DSL. Sandro Pereira went 2-3 with a two-run double as the Orange team beat the Cubs' Blue team 8-6. Leandro Morgado drove in two with a sac fly and an RBI single.
I have no idea, hence why I asked the question. Just saw that he's starting there tonight... wasn't sure if this was a new development or he's been playing there for awhile.
Alonzo Tredwell allowed a hit over three scoreless for Fayetteville... but he walked five while only striking out two.
Zach Cole hit his first AA HR. He has been struggling the last 2 weeks. Luis Encarnacion is 2-2 so far with Asheville tonight. His ops in June is over .900, I think he is an underrated prospect.
Alimber Santa got roughed up in his AA debut: IP, 3 H, 4 R (3 ER, 3 inherited runners charged to him), 2 BB, 2 K
A.J. Blubaugh vs. Tacoma: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K The two runs he allowed came in the form of two solo homers.
