...when you're the 4th worst pitching staff in MLB in high-leverage situations, combined with being 14th in late-close OPS... Seattle is 4th and 5th, btw
I think he had a career year at a very young age and did not duplicate that success for a couple of years. He did get paid based on his name and that big year ( game cover model etc) but I think it's more about him still being young, than overrated. This year he looks to be putting it all together at 25 years old and may very well be a top 10 run producer for the next 7+ years.
With Salazar being worthy, and when Caratini is healed up - why not move a Diaz to 1B? I feel we have our full team already - despite the current injuries I’d love to see Diaz get some run at 1B
I like this idea but for now it seems like a surrender too soon. Diaz as a catcher could be a 4 win player, but if you move him, he’s likely just an average or above average 1B, worth about half that. The only way that makes sense to me is if they either know for sure that Diaz won’t ever be a great defensive C, and/or if they think Salazar can be an elite defensive C with a league-average bat (making him a ~3 win player).
Anyone who can play IF can play 1B with a bit of practice. Outside of that it's a total crapshoot, C/OF...it's a player by player basis but it's not going to be pretty for a while OFers are OFers for a reason...because they couldn't hack it in the IF (or else they'd be SS/3B...or 2B) IF moves out, OF does not typically move in.
Not only have the Astros won 7 games in a row..... But in the month of June the Astros have won 10 of the 13 games played at MMP! Finally winning at home!
WOW. It was definitely a frustrating start to the season, but this really puts it into perspective on how frustating those losses were. The extra inning games, blown saves, blown games in the 8th.....
