Reed is 6'2" it doesn't take much defense to cover a spot shooter. That's why Golden State put Curry on Ariza or Eric Gordon. If Reed drives vs NBA players, he will be falling for what the defense wants. I want Reed dribbling , funnel him to the trees I have waiting for him. Block his shots or alter them enough. Thats when You and Reed find out the college game is full of guys that won't make the NBA. Quicker, faster, springer players will disrupt his game from second units to starters as an NBA player.
Sheppard makes mistakes - at least on the defensive side. He sometimes would have brain farts or space out. He does have a really high aptitude and great instincts though… no I won’t throw out that he is scrappy or a hustler…. But… he does kind of play the game the right way…. So yeah…
Nook, you must be SEETHING at this pick -- LOL. Sorry amigo, but I'm hopeful that you come around to Reed. He's really a great kid -- humble, well-mannered, God-fearing. Best shooter to come out in several years.
As a defensive mind I'm telling you what I would do......how I scout him. I discouraged the Rockets here from drafting him, just as i did with TyTy. I said he is too slow, won't stay in front of NBA guards, Wheeler was the point guard and if he can't beat out Wheeler how is he going to beat out NBA players. I got some grief for my opinion. But I saw TyTy nervous and scared and deferred to EG, KPj and even Nix to run the sets. Unsure of himself. I told people Amen can't shoot, saw him often pick up his dribble at the free throw line not knowing what to do. His lack of shooting would take 3 years to fix. I had many argue with me that he has great court vision, will dribble through defenses and take it to the rack. I laughed and said don't confuse Elite with NBA. Now those same morons are telling me that we need to give up on Amen as a Point Guard and move him to SG or SF. Dummies need to stop evaluating point guards or we'll be picking PG's for the next 5 years.
This would be true for a Teen Wolf offense. Reed knows how to move without the ball. Sengun will find him.
Sheppard will get minutes if he plays well. He can play 1-3 on offense and Amen can guard his man and also play 3-4 in small line ups. FVV will likely be under 30 mins a game by the all star break.
