He has about $6M left for 2024 and $11.5M next season. If Houston waits until the height of the deadline RP market, they could probably trade him to a team with a big need and a weak farm and only have to eat ~$8M total (say $3M this season and $5M next season).

Raiders fans are a pathetic joke. They may be hostile at home in the Black Hole, but the road is apparently a MUCH different story. Was at a game vs the Raiders in '04 and the Texans beat their asses. Had a couple of dozen of those weak ass cosplayers that they love showing on tv. Those morons had to make that LONG trek down the ramps from the 600 level in Houston heat and humidity in their painted shoulder pad spikes and their tin foil swords and battle axes, face paint dripping down their pockmarked cheeks (couldn't tell if that was sweat or tears, probably a mixture of both) as Texans fans rained down every jeer and insult imaginable. They didn't say or do ****...just took it like a gimp in the basement of a redneck LA pawnshop. Weak.

If you did this it makes more sense, probably, to do 0 for this year and 8M next year for tax purposes, right?

Not sure. It depends on whether Houston intends to go further over the tax this year. I also think the league restricts how teams can manipulate eating money spread out over multiple years, but am not sure what the actual rules are.

Crane just needs to nut up and pay Lunhow whatever he wants.

It will never happen but all of the success he had was due to having the best baseball mind in house for several years and an equally aggressive owner.

Montero has had 4 bad game out of 34 games total. He's only lost us 2 games which is less than Pressley and Hader. He's not amazing but he's not that bad this year.

If Steinbrenner can re-hire Billy Martin three times, Crane can re-hire the best GM in the franchise's history.

No, he is bad. You can't just look at losses to determine whether a middle reliever is bad, they are not high leverage guys. He has had way more than 4 bad games this year. In fact, in just his last 5 appearances, 3 have been awful, and in two of those he didn't even last more than a 1/3 of an inning. He has a negative War, a high ERA, a high WHIP, and he can't strike guys out.

    He sucks.

Putting aside the many reasons this is a bad idea - Crane doesn't trust his baseball people *because of Luhnow.* How does bringing him back fix that problem? He's going to hand the keys back over to the guy that betrayed his trust?

Luhnow isn't coming back. Everyone needs to move on.

Crane didn’t like Click because he didn’t operate on the same level as Lunhow. I don’t see it as something impossible.

Crane wants to win and it isn’t going to happen much longer with the current front office.

This is too simple and not correct, according to what has been reported on and off the record.

Click was not given a long term contract, despite winning the W.S. because he refused to do as instructed by Crane - play nice with current employees and don't reinvent the wheel. Instead he tried to change the organization and did not listen to those he was told to.

Crane needed him to show he was a team player and willing to follow the owner's direction before giving him a long term deal and was willing to give him another chance due to the W S. win.

Click acted like a jack ass, publicly announcing his dissatisfaction with the offer at the GM meetings so Crane pulled the offer.

    Did he mean .800 OPS?
There are two qualified first basemen with anywhere close to .900. Harper and Freeman. We ain't getting those.
Lamonte Wade is close with fewer at bats. But he has an absurd .436 babip. No thanks to that.
    Yandy Diaz maybe?
I really wish they would just bring up Wagner and see what he can produce on the major league level. Would be much cheaper and likely similar production from now til the end of the year.

I like Narvaez, although I am super bummed for what this likely means for Caratini.
