Who’s to say all 3 aren’t “in” on it? We know Tilman wants to win now. We know Ime wants to win now. People keep blabbing “He drafted Sengun! He traded two firsts for him! He loves him!” Blah blah blah bullshit. And every step of the way since, they’ve tried to add centers. Oh look, another offseason, being linked to more centers. Pursued Brook Lopez, didn’t get him. Acquired Steven Adams Sengun had his breakout season, they’re STILL pursuing centers. Oh, now he’s trade bait? Oh, now he’s due an extension and it’s “Ehh, we don’t know if we want to pay him.” “Ehh, maybe we can use him as trade bait.” They draft Clingan, he’s gone. They share the same agent, he’s getting Sengun out of here.
For my fellow '70s guys, I just wanted to point out that this thread is now on page 714. That is all.
You might be right. So if we draft Sheppard instead of Clingan...then what? Seems like this draft will give us a very good indication of the direction of the franchise...and whether Stone is an idiot or not.
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5591866/2024/06/26/houston-rockets-nba-draft-no-3-pick/ • The Charlotte Hornets continue to express interest in acquiring the No. 3 pick, and one Western Conference executive identified center Mark Williams as someone Houston could have an interest in.
I guess where there is smoke, there is fire. Some other team will be in a position where they cannot believe their luck. Then again, who knows. The next 12 hours will be crazy. But they should tell us something about the direction of the franchise. If we draft Sheppard and otherwise stay put - we have a bright future. If we trade Sengun - we deserve to be ridiculed as the dumbest franchise in the NBA.
As I have said elsewhere if we take Clingon Sengun is gone. Unless we are taking clingon for a trade. DD
From Bruno and Bamba to Kevin Durant. My how the goalposts have moved… Sengunatics were mostly right about his talent, eh?
As a Rockets fan who wants to see the Rockets succeed, I do not want to see Sengun in a different jersey.
We won’t know if Stone is an idiot or not until the new team has actually performed together on the court. You have to let things play out. Also, we really don’t know who is making decisions. Stone? Ime? Tilman? Patrick?
Stone is an idiot, Witus is the real brains. Trading 36 year old injury prone KD for 21 year old rising star Sengun has the smell of Fertits all over it, just like the Westbrick trade, with Stone playing the role of the yes man instead of Morey.
