I like Sengun too but after drafting Amen I don’t think we should build through him or pay him the money he’ll demand. The whole point forward / center who can’t shoot thing doesn’t sit with me. I’ll go with the oversized, athletic, A+ defender/rebounder vs the other I see Amen as Shai level. I think he just needs reps and that paint open. I’m not saying trade Sengun for nothing but I think a player like Sarr would fit well on the pick n roll with Amen. I also think Sengun max money will help pay to keep the rest of the band together I like FVV. He is the kind of vet this team needed for a year or two. Dillon needs to be traded this year or by next season. He did his job Next year needs to be focused on pushing Amen at point and really paying attention to if Sengun as center on this team long term
Amen as Shai level is a wild take can’t believe we still got people trying to shoehorn Amen Thompson into a primary PG role
When you NEED a bucket, you give the ball to Sengun. You dont give it to Jalen or any of the others except maybe Whitmore. You dont trade Sengun, you build around him.
No. No sane person outside of SOF rates Sengun as high as you do. The team played it's best ball with Sengun out, let's not forget lol
I guess the new head coach of the Lakers is insane then. He was right before last season. And he will be right about Sengun and his career.
Ah, the second half of "the streak" Spurs, Chicago, Washington twice, Portland twice, Utah twice... OKC without SGA. Cavs without Mobley. And then we lost 6 out of 7... Perspective, let's keep it.
My only concern is sengun is not an elite shot blocking anchor to the defense nor is he a consistent floor spacer that can open the floor more two things vital at the center position when comes to winning championships
Didnt Sengun own everyone you listed this past season? lol This continues this dumb boards tradition of always attacking its best players. The dumbest most trollish forum on the net.
But we couldn't beat anybody when Sengun was playing. We were on multiple losing streaks. Hows that for perspective?
Theres nothing special about a "best player " who can't lead a winning team. What's so hard to understand about that?
It's called context. Meaningless March, they call it. Against bad and injured teams. Those are the facts. It was fun though, and I hope some of it carries over for JG, who was great at the end of his Soph season too.
If Alperen Sengun is now, what he is going to be when he is 22-23-24-25-26-27, I'd agree with you. Has he stopped improving at a rapid rate yet? Did I not get the memo?
Spurs couldn't beat ANYONE when Wemby was playing... Not a winning player to build with. Pistons can't beat anyone with Cade. Raptors can't win with Scottie Barnes. Hell, the Lakers and the Warriors were play-in teams... Come on guys. Take some context in. Sheesh. Alperen is 21, and look at how far the goalposts have moved already. My goodness!
Rockets issues last year was offense not defense. Yes defense was a major deciding factor for the last few rounds of the NBA playoffs, but Boston, Dallas, Denver, OKC, Indiana, and NY were all top 10 offensive efficiency teams. And Minn basically played like one in the playoffs. Sengun is the Rockets best offensive creator currently. Getting rid of him without netting a player who can fulfill that role would set the franchise back for years. I'm not saying Sengun is the answer or untouchable. I'm just saying basically cutting bait and chasing waterfalls is bad strategy.
