Now I'm hoping Meyers will be included in a trade for Robert just to read your reaction. I'm sure I would be greatly entertained.
Louis Roberts has a history of hamstrings and hip problems which means he needs a new body to be the Luis Roberts before his debut in White Sox uniform. White Sox home of underachievers.... Luis, Eloy, Oscar, Moncada…
I think Robert playing 1b is kinda like driving your Ferrari to the mailbox It would work, and the oooos and aaaaaahs when the lineup is released are real nice. But you just can't get it up to speed or really maximize it's value. And in the end, you paid a big car payment, insurance, and gas to get your mail.
If the Astros traded for Robert, I would be pissed if Meyers wasn't included Meyers has no place on a team that includes Robert.
I get the feeling my post didn't go over as I intended. All I meant was that Robert will be very expensive and CF is not a position of need at the moment. But I would be thrilled if they got him.
As to the starting pitcher, I'd take that all day over another outfielder. Replacing Arreghetti is the biggest improvement we could make at the moment, bigger than replacing our current 1B platoon. Ronel Blanco is likely to hitting innings concerns in the back half of the season, given he's about 40 innings shy of his career high. Hunter Brown fell apart last year beginning on July 1, will he have similar fatigue this season? Maybe Luis Garcia is back, maybe it's someone else. But I wouldn't count on an injured pitcher to fix our rotation concerns. The idea of moving an outfielder for a starter, then trading for a different outfielder to replace that starter, is too cute by half. You've got to make a successful trade for a starting pitcher, then a second trade to fill the hole you just created. Sometimes, I think GMs and armchair GMs want to make moves for the sake of "doing something". I'd rather they make no moves than make a foolish one.
If we got him, I feel there are two ways it can go: 1) Beltran in 2004... where I thought outfield was a strength with Jason Lane getting playing time and losing Dotel would have hurt than it actually did or 2) CarGo in 2015 where there was near instant regret.
NBA used to be the same way... sigh. I don't want anyone to get hurt, but it seems only the NHL accepts fighting as part of the game now
Those are the 2 things I make a point to eat every time I'm in that city. Very good Mexican food too. The "Chicago Dog" with it's weirdass dayglo green relish is laughable. Not sure what else @Nook thinks the town is known for.
If memory serves. Marisnick had the arm to play RF and was an option as a 4th OF. If Meyers isn't the starting CF he does not fit well on the roster. Also the Astros did not have the sheer OF depth they have now, including 5 of their top 11 prospects.
