I can agree with all of these points. I really am happy to hear that this team isn’t in love with anyone to the point of holding back the team and I love Sengun
Come on, the dude is literally pulling **** out of his ass at this point. There are no sources. Just a lot of wishful thinking from somebody who still can't get over his woman-beating bf not being the focus of the Rockets' future.
I did not become a "Jater" until his extended bad play for most of last season forced me o want to see him go. His streak was good enough for me to want to see how he starts next season. I am expecting him to come out of the gate strong. As for Sheppard, I personally see him as a replacement for FVV. I think most do. Of course if Jalen flames out Reed could log some minutes in that spot.
I don't think anyone needs sources to know this is the case. Jalen is a bigger headache than the rest of the young core combined. Both on and off the court.
This is interesting. Because my sources say differently. They say the front office is enamoured with Landale and believe they can build a roster around him that can contend.
Cheers to you for being honest. When you rebuild from the ground up with nothing but young players an extra level of patience should be noted. The peaks and valleys to Jalens game is a hard ride to stomach I can understand that. I think he will reward all ROX fans soon enough with consistency. I dont think Sheppard is an instinctive enough passer or ball handler to be relied upon to supplant FVV or any other NBA level lead guard.
Well, I am right as much as wrong, but hanger ons only remember what they want......to fit their narrative. This isn't what I think, it is what I was told.....I don't know if it is true, but I know who told it to me is solid....but whatever, believe it or not. One other thing they LOVE Amen's future but worry about his shot limiting his upside. DD
I was told Landale and Green(Unc) were the two guys they were building around. Do you think we share the same source and he's ****ing with us? When I refer to "he" I'm referring to our collective ass holes.
Ah, poor baby.....this is why people don't share because folks like you who sup at the crank of a player can't handle itty bitty criticisms of that player, and then project their butt hurtness onto others. Anyway, believe it or not....I don't care. And yes, I know lots of people - and if you saw my contact list you would NEVER believe it. DD
Is that from sources too? Anybody that watches basketball knows that is a concern. Your sources are not solid if they are telling you that the Rockets value Cam and Tari over Amen and Sengun. Sorry but that is just BS. Anybody on this board could have come up with those 6 items as a possibility, but I doubt anyone in the basketball universe other than you and your “solid” sources believe them to be true.
It is from a chat from someone I worked with years ago, that is still in the NBA front office - and is connected to the Houston front office. About once a year I go visit, we talk ball, and he tells me what he has heard the Rox are doing - or are up to - he has been mostly right IIRC....but he isn't in the Rox office, he is in another team's office. I think they all know mostly what the others are up to, much more than we do.... And they aren't invested in them as fans, but look at them like assets and how they want to build their team.....if you think about it, IME values guys that work hard all the time...... No wonder he loves Tari, Cam and Amen, those guys are HUSTLERS all the time on the court - and he loves that - working hard is a skill too. As a fan, I would value the 6 in this order. This is how I think they impact winning. 1. Sengun 2. Cam 3. Jabari 4. Amen 5.Tari 6. Jalen DD
Ok. I surrender. I believe someone you have respect for gave you those bullet points. I think all are plausible except no. 4. No basketball mind would believe it. I’m not sure i buy a couple of the other points either, but they are plausible. 1. I do think they have shopped Jalen and continue to do so, but at large asking price. 2. I’m pretty sure that is accurate, although I believe they would prefer to trade the pick. 3. This may be true to a certain extent, but I’m betting he will want the extension salary to be more than the Rockets will agree to. 4. Ridiculous, don’t believe it for a second. They also are you 2 favorite players so maybe he was placating you. 5. I think the assessment on Jabari maybe a little more embellished. Of course, they aren’t satisfied or sold on him yet, but he is an improving 21 year old and maybe your source added a little of his own observation to the info. 6. Probably partially true, but I think they would take injury, age, and fit with Ime into account. They would also be extremely limited by who is actually available. It might not be the front office’s opinion, but I don’t see any player that is available would be worth giving up Sengun for even straight up. I’m on record believing that the only top 10 player that might become available and they would trade Sengun or Amen for is Giannis.
I hope you are right about Jalen and I remain positive about him although my patience has limits. As for Sheppard, I encourage you to do a deep dive on the guy. The guy is a great passer and has a ton of b-ball IQ. If we get him he will fit in perfectly in whatever role is given to him including taking over for FVV.
Taking over for FVV would be a tall order. If you are suggesting he could be in a backcourt with Amen playing PG on offense and Sheppard PG on defense, that is a reasonable conjecture. If Sheppard was a shoe-in as a PG he would be the runaway as the first pick in this draft. NBA FO’s and scouts are not seeing it.
