Garcia will need to start, LMJ to the pen for good. I wouldn’t mind seeing what he can do in the 7th inning role, he’s got the mental make up for it. Move abreu to the 8th. I just can’t trust pressley anymore, he can do mop up duty, or games they’re up by 2+. This is if they decide to use our best trade pieces for a 1B if still in the hunt. But I’d imagine they make another move for an own arm. Framber JV Blanco brown Garcia/Arghetti LMJ spot starts to control blanco and Arghettis IP Blowout mop up-montero unless they DFA or find a team that just needs arms as a tag along in a trade. long relief-Martinez, LMJ 5th/6th- pressley/LMJ 6th-Taylor 7th-LMJ/pressley/trade acquisition 8th-Abreu 9th-Hader
What I would do If the Astros are unable to add a bat at the trade deadline: C) Diaz 70%, Caratini 30% 1b) Dubon 65%, Loperfido 35% 2b) Altuve 90% Dubon 10% 3b) Bregman 100% SS) Pena 90%, Dubon 10% LF) Chas 40%, Loperfido 35%, Alvarez 25% CF) Meyers 85%, Loperfido 15% RF) Tucker 95%, Chas 5% DH) Alvarez 75%, Altuve 10%, Diaz 10%, Tucker 5% Dubon, Chas, and Meyers are always in the lineup vs LHSP (approx 30% of games). Loperfido is always in lineup vs RHSP.
Yes, but b/t us it's more sar-chasm You love him enough to play him half the time, I'm not sure I do, at all. One of the things about the Chas and Yainer (and a hundred others) is that part-time players sometimes play better part-time. Exposure goes up, production goes down. It's not a strange or new phenomenon.
I just don’t see a scenario where both meyers and chas are on the team come Aug 1st. Even if not for a bat, one is gone for an arm if buying or prospects if selling. I’ll assume we’re buying, I’m not sure what attractable prospects we can move outside of Leon, and with Tuckers extension up in the air I think Melton and Baez are off the table. Maybe Matthew’s as well if they plan to move him to 3rd to replace bregman at some point next year. So you’ll almost have to package something around Jake or Chas/Leon/Lower level guy for a significant pitcher. Good thing is Lope has the range to play center if a team is set on Jake over Chas. If you were somehow able to keep Leon, you could plug him into the OF rotations since Dubon will be playing a lot of 1B.
I agree with you on Chas, but yanier will be a stud and I can see why this year has been a struggle. Scouting report is out on him, so he’ll have to make adjustments but given his position it may take a little longer, especially given the amount of injuries to the pitching and different pitchers he’s had to handle. That’s a lot mentally for a 1st year full time catcher. I think it’s at already 27 different pitchers used, when they’ve averaged about 21 per that past few years. We’ll really see his growth next year, or hopefully the 2nd have of this season.
Chas is basically hitting about average against RHPs this year despite having a severe slump. Chas is basically an average hitter for his career vs RHPs. Chas when he played regularly was a well above hitter vs RHPs. Maybe that isn't ideal for a LF. That said, 1B exists. If Loperfido can hit RHP, that is where he should be as he's likely better defensively there than Singleton and Chas probably can't play there. If Alvarez is in LF, Chas is probably about as good or better as anyone else at DH vs RHPs.
...four weeks?!? Cesar and Hummel get their shot... wouldn't be surprised if both stay in the bigs for a bit considering the versatility of Hummel. I didn't even expect JP back this year... or Bloss. Shoulder injuries suck.
I think this team would he better w/o both on the team, because they are so similar. Depending on who replaces one on the roster of course. That doesn't mean I have any confidence that one will be traded or optioned. The point has been made that limited exposure can cover limitations and help players produce better than they actually are. That's why I think Chas needs 45% of starts and no more - all vs LHSP and when another OF needs a day off vs a RHSP.
My question is. Do contracts get automatically get restructured once a minor joins the team. Cuz if he is on the IL for an extended period of time I hope he is getting MLB player type of cash.
If you get hurt in the majors, you are technically still in the majors for the duration of the injury and are paid accordingly. He should be making the MLB league minimum.
