#9. Carter steadily creeping up the boards. At this rate he'll be at #4 come Wednesday and Ime gonna make that move!
It would be a very Rafael Stone type move to waste a top 3 pick like that, it's always smart to bet on him screwing things up.
I don't think it's going to be a Stone pick. I think he trusts Ime enough to make that kind of move. Just like Ime, Stone wants to win now. Let me just say that I'm not saying things about Sheppard because I dont like him. I actually do like the kid. He was my second choice for us to draft after Filipowski. I've only recently discovered Carter maybe like 3 weeks ago and I just happened to think with what he brings he can help the team sooner rather than later. I still think Reed is going to be a good NBA player. I also know that every single time he goes up against Carter........its game over man.
That's even worse... Ime is how we got stuck with Dillon Brooks. If the Rockets are dumb enough to let the Spurs get Sheppard, it'll haunt them for a decade. Picking Carter over Sheppard is like picking Marcus Smart over Chris Paul.
Reed the favorite at #3 with -115 odds. That's about as intense as the pick has been during the process. Sarr being a lock to go #2 probably evened things out. Doubt Atlanta takes him at #1. Should see some more movement from here to Wednesday but there'll by clarity by Tuesday night.
Hollinger’s final big board has Reed at #4 (Holland#1, Castle#2, Clingan#3, Sarr#5). He really doesn’t like Risacher. Vecenie - Reed #2 Hollinger - Reed #4 Givony - Reed #4 No Ceilings - Reed #5
Yet he came off the bench and still has yet to be ranked #1 in this draft class. He got totally exposed and embarrassed by some guy named Jack Gohlke on the biggest stage of his college career. Gohlke shoved all that high percentage 3pt shooting and supposed great defense down Sheppards throat. Sent him and Dillingham right back to the bench where they belonged. Whats the excuse for that? Yet for Houston he will be a generational player? You guys are embarrassing.
At this point it's just the hype echo chamber I think. Most of these people have based the entirety of their opinion on a combination of his 3p% and wanting him to replace Jalen. I still want Reed, I think he'll be an awesome roleplaying sharpshooter for us, but these guys are going to CRUCIFY him if we draft him.
I'd love that 2 years from now. The auto assists in the PnR will come naturally but unlike FVV, Reed will make his lay ups. Hehe, FVV scores 21pts going 7/ 7 on threes with 0-16 from everywhere else. He is the engine. When he's hurt, the offense feels off.
He will replace FVV after next season not Green. Green will either prove he can be consistent and lock himself in as our SG for the foreseeable future or he will start off poorly yet again and will replaced by Cam or Amen. Sheppard should fit well with any of these guys.
How many times are you going to keep bringing up that one game as your justification that everyone high on Sheppard, from coaches to basketball experts to fans are embarrassing? It's ridiculous. Your opinion doesn't make you the expert. If it did than you would be the highest paid GM in the league right now. Imagine if all players were eliminated from being drafted strictly for one playoffs or conference game, regardless of how well they played all year.
