I am just not interested in Brandon Ingram at all, I don't get why we would want him. I think some guys just don't fit on a championship roster. Not that I'm calling the rockets a championship roster, but you should at least have some mental outline of what you want your team to be. I don't see how or where Brandon Ingram fits onto a great team. He's a high volume guy that isn't good enough to be a high volume guy, and I'm not really sure he's capable or willing to take a low volume role. Even if he did, I don't think his skillset suits it. Some guys are great players but their playstyle doesn't align with winning basketball. Westbrook is the most obvious example of this, and to a lesser extent, someone like Monta Ellis. I think Brandon Ingram is in that category, I wouldn't want him on my team at all.
I take the leaks like this as a way of setting market value. Meaning: Stone is saying that the price, if anyone wants to entertain it, would be more than the assumed value of Ingram. So if someone wants to make an offer for Sengun, it does sound like they want to entertain offers at that higher price. Otherwise I don't see the motive for the Rockets to leak this to Iko knowing damn well he'll put this out there unless they or Iko just wanted to troll for clicks from SOF's. So either Sengun is on the market at the right price (make up your own assumption based on the Ingram comp), or Iko/Stone are trolling SOF'ers.
We were terrible for several years and had numerous swings in the draft, finally one a gem in Sengun, only to trade him for a good but not great All-Star with a year left in his contract? We'd lose ALL credibility
Or like many teams that hang up the phone on dumb trades, F/0 is letting you know they're not even considering trading Alpi for a 20pt all star who is still in his mid 20s. Like I said, only here can a declined trade make people act a fool. Powerful outside forces love Sengun
I don't understand why people don't like this trade? I know BI has injury concerns, but man, he is an actually good player that impacts the game. He may not be a true superstar, but man he would fit in well with this team offensively. I'm not sure how he plays defensively, but he is just about to enter his prime! For No. 3 and Cam, I would definitely do it. I thought everyone thought this year's draft was garbage?!?! Lol. I hear a lot of people want Reed or Clingan, yet these guys would not be top 10 talent if the draft was stronger according to many. And Cam Whitmore, as freaking talented as he is, he may never get it. He may never pass the ball consistently. He is a walking bucket, a ton of potential, but that's all it is at this point.
I wouldn’t trade Cam straight up for the right to overpay BI. I feel like availability is underrated. The guy doesn’t play.
Sure anyone on the roster is available if the price was right, we turned down an allstar in his 20s for Sengun, but would accept a superstar for sure. But just because we leaked this info does not mean Sengun is on the block, it just means there’s no allstars in their 20s being offered for any one else on our roster. It would be great if we could leak that we rejected Mikal Bridges for Jalen Green, but we can’t do that because it was the other way around - that doesn’t mean the front office is all in on Green and shopping Sengun.
For what its worth, Cam has a better per 36 stats vs BI and he is 7 years younger. I would definitely keep Cam vs letting him go to get BI who appears to be regressing a bit since his last All Star appearance 4 years ago.
Feels like an overpay for a oft-injured player... Take Cam & #3 out and put Brooks + future FRP in = lot more love
I would also like to add that BI was underwhelming when it mattered the most: that sweep against the Thunder. He was supposed to be helping carry the team offensively when Zion went down. Now if we do manage to get Trey Murphy and Herb Jones instead of BI that would be amazing
I doubt the Pelicans have those guys available. They see Trey and Herb as part of the core with Zion. Ingram and McCollum are available. I wonder what people think of McCollum? He shoots well. Can create his own shot. Would be a well needed 6th man scoring punch off the bench. Though Cam should be fighting for that role next season. Though I don't know what I would want to give up for McCollum.
People are making too much of this. ring ring NAWLINS: Hey, Ralph, whaddup? How about Ingram the Rocket Killer for Seng--- STONE: Later, gator. click End of story.
He's good but where does he fit on a championship roster? Surely we can agree he isn't good enough to be your best player. Is he good enough to be your second best player? I don't think so. And if he's your third best player, what does that role look like? He's not good enough to be your closer either. So what exactly is his skillset for? What role do you envision him in?
I think I’d CONSIDER a Green for Ingram swap (salary matching issues aside). But yah I agree with others that while he’d certainly make us better, he has tapped out his potential and doesn’t make us contenders without another giant leap from Sengun and others.
