Agreed. Beggars can’t be choosers when the Astros desperately need to win the games they’re supposed to win.
Yeah, they are in a great position no doubt. They have a great front office in addition to the talent across their entire organization. That said, a dynasty is an extremely difficult thing to accomplish. If I had the choice right now, I would take the Yankees organization/roster with their deep pockets over the Orioles.
Wasn’t that a few months ago? I’m sure they will spend more than under Angelos but who knows how much that will be. I know the Yankees are going to spend.
Astros fans on Twitter are satisfied with this series but I still consider it a failure. I guess they'll take anything at this point. We seem literally incapable of sweeping any team, despite how bad they are. Only one sweep I remember this season is vs. the A's.
Remember Mexico City !!! But yeah.. Astros need some sweeps. One way to offset not sweeping the Sox is taking 2 of 3 from Baltimore. Stros have struggled offsetting anything this season though. We are the same 5 games below 500 as we were 10 games ago.
10-24 in games decided by 2 runs or fewer. We will need to get that mark to .500 to have any shot at the post season.
Since the 12-24 start, they are 23-16 which is 0.590. If they were to just maintain that for the rest of the season, that gets them to 86 wins. Unless multiple other teams fall apart, that won't be enough.
A few months ago, last year - it doesn’t matter. This is their first season under the new owners. Baltimore has lost 4 starters to TJ this year. They are going to spend. They are very much like the 2017 Astros. Also, they just whooped up on the Yankees in the Bronx.
Meh - I don’t even think the Astros would get a lot from the Yankees for Alex Bregman. I am sure they would like to move Pressly as well. They have incentive to keep Verlander because the Mets pay half his salary if his pension vests and is on the Astros next year. They aren’t trading Tucker or Valdez unless someone overpays. Otherwise they likely would rather move this this Winter if they go that route. So there isn’t a lot of players they would actually move.
He was disappointing at times early and not as dominant as he should be - but he has gutted it out at times and has emotionally pushed the Astros. While this should be a sweep - the Astros still won the series and made up two games the last two games..
I’d bet a significant amount of money they don’t pull off anything close to what the Astros have done.
The only chance this team has is if they pick up a significant middle of the order type hitter at 1B at the deadline. We can’t keep rolling Singleton out there, and it’s the only position that makes sense to upgrade. Pena, Meyers, Diaz, and for damn sure Singleton should never be hitting 5th (once Tucker is back) in a good lineup. Jose Abreu really ****ed us. That likely still won’t be enough so not sure it’s worth the cost though.
im loving their "beef". Yankees seem to pick a fight with a different team every season lol give 'em hell O's. Crush their spirit.
