Redick will be the fourth coach since LeBron James joined the team in 2018-19, entering his seventh season with the team and 22nd in the NBA. The Los Angeles Lakers and JJ Redick have agreed to a four-year deal to make the 39-year-old former NBA player the team's new head coach, team sources said Thursday. The contract is in the neighborhood of $8 million per season, according to sources briefed on the deal.
He's probably better than Darvin Ham but that isn't saying much. Now the Lakers have to shake up the roster and add some dynamism. LeBron and AD aren't getting any younger.
I would trade the next year Nets pick for Lakers picks. Lakers are a disaster. Jeannie Buss, Rob Pelinka, Kurt Rambis. They are not a Front Office, more like a Family Gathering. Jerry West - "It is a Shtshow over there". Greatest Audio ever.
Adam Silver orders the Referees. The Referees whistled and carried the Lakers to the Play In, Not LeBron James or Anthony Davis.
Redick is on record saying that he thinks Sengun is a potential MVP player for the next 10 years. I'd hate to lose Sengun, but if we get a top 6 player return, that changes things. Don't be surprised if rumors swirl with the Lakers, despite them not really having a ton of assets.
Another person that skips the line All this "You need experiece" sh*t is bullsh*t Sam Cassell been pushing for going on over 10 yrs. . .and it don't mean crap just get someone out of the booth Rocket River
They made it to the WCF in his first year. They made it to the playoffs in his second year, even though that garbage roster couldn't compete with Nuggets. Not sure why Coach Ham gets hate. I'd like to see JJ achieve that success in his first year as a coach.
He had a high on-court basketball IQ, but I don't think he was that intelligent otherwise. Turns out there's a big difference between making smart, quick decisions with the ball in your hands, and making well thought-out, strategic decisions from the sidelines.
True but I also think he should have started with a smaller market team like charlotte. First time coach, coaching a big 3 is a recipe for disaster
As hundreds of others will attest, "experience" at the assistant level doesn't guarantee one an NBA head coaching job. It isn't earned by seniority. Also, instances of teams hiring guys with no coaching experience will continue. Steve Kerr and Jason Kidd prove it can work out, sometimes. If you want to go back further, see Larry Bird. It probably isn't going to happen for Sam and there are reasons.
