Usually International players are being compared to college players at this time of year and it is accepted that the stats are usually skewered.......than so goes for college to NBA as well...........more cases of players that never translate than players that do.......... This is what this draft is..........
No one thinks Reed is going to be Steph Curry. But he'd probably be the best shooter on our team the minute he gets drafted.
Multiple people have said he will be the next Curry or implied he would be better than Curry. They even mentioned Curry shot 40% as a junior while Sheppard shot 50% as a rookie and projecting 45% as the lower end of his 3 pt average. You want me to pull up quotes? Reed might be the best spot up shooter on this team, but considering Holiday and Bullock got minimal playing time it is clear you need more than just shooting to beat out the core six in the rotation.
Translation: With smart organizations seeing him as a potential #1 pick and morons viewing him as a late lottery pick.
Saying he shot better than Curry in college is just stating a fact and does not equal saying he will be better than Curry in the NBA. Stating he gets his shot off quickly, like Curry, is not saying he will be Curry in the NBA. You are reading something into others comments about Sheppard that just are not there.
That would be the dumbest pick they could possibly make. I think it is a smoke screen seeing if they can get any good offers for #3,
So you are saying he shot better than Curry and he gets his shot off quickly like Curry but he wont be Curry? Then whats the point of stating that fact then? You should have a point for saying something since you took the time and effort to look it up right?
Correct. Believe it or not there are other things Curry did that made him a Top 15 player of all time besides the way he shot the ball. Donovan Clingan is tall like Victor Wembanyama. That is not me saying he will be Victor Wembanyama, merely pointing out how problematic his height will be for opposing defenses.
Why is it NOT dumb THEN?, to pick an one and done championship-less undersized player without a concrete position in the NBA as opposed to an established position of presence that filled roles to win two championships in a division with a 7' 6" point/center?.........
That's just how it works with projecting draft prospects... it's always unlikely that they'll reach their ceiling, but you can still discuss it. After Steph Curry's freshman season everyone would have said it was unlikely that he'd match the accomplishments of his father Dell.... then he exceeded them. Sheppard shoots similar to Curry both in outcome and style. Will he be as prolific a shooter? Probably not... but it's possible.
A fact is a fact. I am sorry if the facts bother you. Now my opinion is that iIf Reed reaches his highest ceiling possible, which few players do, he could be a poor man's Curry. It is very doubtful he reaches that level but with what he displayed in college it is possible.
