Those would be interesting things to know. Quick look says the Stros are 11th in BA with RISP, for whatever that's worth.
The Astros still rely heavily on analytics. They still have most of the same analytical team as when Click was in town. They lost Geles, but they replaced her. The issues are having players like Verlander and Altuve and Bregman getting older and more expensive. Having Abreu and Montero struggle (who Click wanted) and… most of all injuries…. At this point the Astros injuries are excessive. What would the Astros record be with McCullers, Garcia, a healthy Javier, France and Graveman? How about a Yordan that isn’t banged up and Tucker? The poor play of Abreu hasn’t helped - but injuries are the problem… not Dana Brown or a lack of Click… it certainly isn’t Bagwell either.
Another dumb move by Espada only pitching Scott one inning. Upper management really needs to step in.
There hasn’t been much opportunity for Brown to do much. Most the team has been locked in… he got a back up catcher, signed a few relievers and helped Crane get Verlander and sign Hader… the rest has been the farm system, which has improved over Click and the tail end of Luhnow. Brown isn’t the problem.
Espada set the tone by his general lack of multi-inning'ing Scott, Martinez, and Dubin. He truly needs upper management to assist/leash him.
