KPJ was on a fine development trajectory and was a low risk take - a player we got for practically nothing....he derailed his own career.....but basketball wise he was a great value addition. Can't say that about Jalen. DD
Would have been interesting to see how KPJ and Green continued to develop if they’d been kept together for another year. Those guys had good chemistry. But I think KPJ was a super alpha personality, and he was a fistful to handle by any coaching staff. I must admit I was intrigued how Ume would have impacted KPJ, but now we will never know.
Why don’t you actually formulate a logical assessment backed with knowledge and supporting information instead of spew conjecture and bullshi+? Really you never analyze shi+ but run your mouth literally every day. And no, merely posting flawed metrics isn’t analysis. Either you know what the fuc$ ur talking about or you don’t. And you have clearly shown from your 1 million daily posts that you don’t know shi+. Absolutely nothing. It’s sad.
I am one of the few that don't want to know .....it is unfortunate but you get rid of the felon type at the slightest sign of bad conduct. Should have tossed him when he threw things at John Lucas......that is standard procedure of penalty IMO. The Rockets have kept him for far too long but they did not give DMo a contract because of a questionable back injury? They kept lesser players for much longer.....
I don't complain about Jalen's frame. Don't complain about his fingernail polish. Don't complain about his 40 year old baby momma. I do complain about his highly inconsistent shooting. The only thing Jalen has to do to win me over is have 60+ nights where he shoots .400 or better from distance. Last year he had 52 games of .333 or worse, 38 games of .250 or worse, 25 games of .200 or worse, 12 games of .000. WTF 27 games of .400 or better. Give me more of those and less of the 52 other games. Everything else being equal, It translates to winning at a .620 clip.
Erratic is one way to describe these numbers! For the Rockets to win, Jalen doesn't even need to become a much better shooter on the upper end as long as he can mitigate the bottom end. They can still win even with him not being an elite shooter if he could just eliminate the 25 games of .200 or worse from his arsenal. Just that change alone would be a MASSIVE boost to playing winning ball. It would be interesting to know what the models would predict if Jalen just shot a flat 35% from 3 on the same volume. Obviously, nobody actually shoots a flat percentage, shot variance is a thing, but it would be an interesting exercise. Does anyone know how Jalen's standard deviation in shot percentage stacks up?
So your benchmark is Green being one of the best shooters in the NBA? 60+ nights at over 40% would make him THE best shooter in the NBA by a huge distance. This is why I can't take your opinion seriously, you don't even know what a real good shooter looks like. For reference, Grayson Allen lead the NBA in 3P% last regular season, he had 49 games of over 40% from 3. Steph Curry is the greatest shooter of all time, he had 40 games of over 40% from 3. So your benchmark is Jalen hitting over 60 games at that efficiency? Why not just admit that there's literally nothing he could do and you're pretending your reasons/lines in the sand are valid when they're completely and utterly ridiculous?
Oh look, more benchmarks that make no sense. Either you're not so subtly saying there's literally nothing he can do, or you know nothing about basketball. For reference: Steph Curry is the greatest shooter in history, he had 42 games at over .380 this season. Grayson Allen lead the league in 3p% this season, he had 49 games at over .380. You're asking for the impossible, and using it to justify idiotic narratives.
Steph Curry - THE GREATEST 3PT SHOOTER THE SPORT HAS EVER KNOWN is a lifetime .426 shooter. Some guys here will not be moved by Jalen until he shoots .400 for 60+ games from 3??? LMAOOOOOOOO Guys just say Jalen is not palatable to your idea of franchise player and move on to the next irrational bench mark. That is pretty ridiculous even for this place. For example Donovan Mitchell the "best" player mentioned in trade talks this cycle is a lifetime .366 outside shooter.
Jalen will never in a single season shoot over 40% in 60 games. He just has to shoot league average or better in most games and have only a handful of games at 25% or less. Jalen is a star if he can meet that modest goal. His ability to break down defenses off the dribble is what makes him unique to our team. A decent 3 pt shot makes him pretty much unguardable by one persson.
Ok now we are operating with some sort of tangible outcomes. Phrasing it in terms of 'best shooter in the league' type outcome is a strange way to ask for Jalen Green to be an average 3 point shooter.
