Not sure, Jalen has a weak handle and Sheppard is fairly good at picking pockets. Jalen has all the athleticism but he can't shoot. Jalen can't play any defense but Sheppard isn't really an ISO type player. Either way, it's irrelevant. Basketball is a team sport, not an individual one and Sheppard is a MUCH better team player while Green is a mindless chucker.
Ben Simmons going broke. He is not smart with his money. He is living on New York another Tax Nightmare. Los Angeles Taxes.
Amen had as many airballs as made threes Amen shoots like he’s shooting with his off-hand blindfolded Amen has the most potential on this current roster by far…it’s insane how many guys have all the tools for stardom but grew up and developed into a guy who can’t shoot a lick…it’s really a shame
I don’t disagree with any of that. But we just watched this kid show us a clear roadmap to him being a highly impactful player, even if he never improves on his shot at all. If he becomes a point guard in an offense where he has surrounded by four other shooters the lack of a shot is not gonna matter a ton. His man can sag off of him, but amen is going to eat up that space with his athleticism And still either get to the rim or kick out out if there is a help defender. This we may create a situation where he can never be a full-time point guard and it’s 18 minutes of point guard and 18 minutes of off-ball/wing play in the dunker spot. There is also a scenario where maybe he adds the 18 footer but doesn’t ever extend his range that solves a lot of problems as well. this seems to be a player that legitimately eats and breeze the game. I concede that if this is true, it is strange that he never really learned to shoot but then again I am sure he just physically dominated everyone up until the NBA. You are right, this is a shame. when I watch Sengun shoot the three, really feel like he’s gonna get 36% fairly easily one day. I think he just needs to shoot without hesitation and understand where his hotspots are. Cam/Jabari/Reed/MLE FA can go a long way towards providing those two players (Amen and Cam) With the spacing they need in the future.
They are practically the same age, and Sengun is certainly more accomplished. They play different positions and I love them both, for sure, but your assessment is not backed by facts.
if Atl picks (for themselves) he won’t go #1. #3 is even $ to be selected for __________? so, if Rox move down who is the pick? Who is the one coming in? Intrigue. At least I am intrigued.
if Amen never improves his shot at all, he will be a highly impactful regular season player and borderline unplayable in the postseason with the way he’d destroy spacing and make life much harder for the other guys on offense…not only would they completely ignore him, they could even do hack-a-Amen because he can’t hit free throws I don’t see PG for him in the future with his level of shooting and ballhandling…they’re both really subpar for a PG and it honestly feels like a force trying to turn him into one…I view him as an athletic defensive wing with some playmaking ability you’re higher on Sengun’s 3 point shooting ability than I am…career 28% with teams often not even bothering to contest him out there…the percentages and the volume isn’t there, and it might not ever be…he also barely shoots 70% from the line, so Amen at PG and Sengun at C is already 2 weak-non shooters in the SL Jabari is an average shooter…maybe he eventually becomes the elite shooter he was supposed to be, but so far, just average…Tari average and low volume…Jalen if he’s still here beyond this season is below average…Sengun below average…Amen one of the worst in the league…Cam shot the 3 at a mediocre rate in college, and shot 36% as a rookie, but was also 68% from the free throw line…I’m not ready to classify him as a shooter…I think we have a very weak shooting young core
I can't see the Hawks taking him and if someone trades up (which I don't think they will) I can't see them moving up for Sheppard. I think the only way someone is jumping up to number one is if they really believe in Sarr. I can't see the Wizards taking him either even though they'll probably lose Tyus Jones. We'll see though. Fun time of year.
We all need to take a break from making a case for Reed Sheppard and spend a minute or two to contemplate on the lifestyle of Ben Simmons.
Agree on his shooting. That's the only thing that made me skeptical about drafting him. Some teams, especially in the playoffs, are just going to make him unplayable. I think his ball handling is fine, but agree that his lack of shooting is going to make it almost impossible to play him at PG. On the flip side, I don't think he'd have to be even a league average shooter to be the lead guard. Just 30% from three would do wonders for opening up his game. But he's got so far to go to even reach the 30% mark.
I don't think they are a very smart franchise and I also think they'll feel the need to bring in someone with measurables. What I'm hoping is that The Hawks take Risacher or Clingan....I think if Sarr is there at 2 there is no way the Wizards pass on him.
Reed rhymes with weed.... i cant think of a better reason to draft him than that!! Weed Sheppard would be a pretty cool name for a headshop
This is a valid point; however, Rajon Rondo was a terrible shooter and still managed to be effective in the championship team. Amen is a terrific rebounder and finisher around the rim better than Rondo in his rookie year. May be not a better passer yet. I am really high on Amen. And this comes from someone who didn't want the Rockets to draft him.
