He was at 94 pitches. There is no reason I can logically think of to have pulled him early, unless he asked to come out, which I highly doubt would have ever happened. It's just a shame.
Blanco continues his great season. Espada continues his terrible season. Astros need to sweep @CHISOX -- there's so much f***ery needing to be offset this season. .
Now that J. Abreu is gone, if the Astros continue to be mediocre to bad, the pressure will be on them to get rid of Espada next. Few Astros fans at this point feel he is the man for the job moving forward.
They likely won't fire him midseason, but they can leash him. He isn't a veteran like Dusty, he's a struggling rookie.
Anything less than a sweep at CWS will be disappointing and I fully expect to be disappointed. Optimistic af though
Blanco is already at 77 innings pitched this season with a career high of 88 which came in 2017. Pulling him at 94 pitches was fine.
No doubt.... Blanco will likely be in the same situation as Hunter, Javier, and Brown were last season -- deteriorating down the stretch from throwing career-high innings. Astros really need JV healthy, plus Garcia and McCullers to return and be effective, even if it's only 2-3 innings/appearance from the bullpen. JV should be regulated to a 5 inning / 85 pitch guy. Espada throwing Seth for ONE out was maybe the stupidest thing he's done this season. Maldy got his revenge while still wearing an Astros unform.
134 innings last year between the bigs and AAA.... but he also did winter ball the last two years... so he's been pitching non-stop.
