I mean, they made The Mandalorian and Andor, which are terrific. Ashoka wasn't quite as great as it could have been, but was still enjoyable. So there is good mixed with bad depending on the series.
The critics had so much to tackle they haven't even mentioned how embarrassing the product placement was for the spice creams, which they will surely sell at the theme park along with the blatant space popsicles from the Mandalorian. Cringe moment.
Andor was very good and I'm looking forward to S2. The Mandalorian was not good after S1. S3 was complete junk IMO.
Andor was very good? It was alright, I wouldnt have my hopes up for s2 if you take anything from The Mandalorian. Speaking of Mandalorian, s2 kinda worn out and s3 was junk. Ashoka was also junk...and this current piece of c...they are showing right now is downright rage inducing. I don't even want to mention Boba Fett and Kenobi. Why do I force myself to watch them? If I count it by number of total seasons spanning all the shows...that's 8 seasons, and only 2 of the seasons of all shows are worth anything. At least the average of good seasons is better than Abreu's batting average.
Please don't kill every hope. All I'm asking is that Andor S2 be for Star Wars what Loki S2 was for Marvel. I turned out the lights on Marvel after Loki S2 and will do the same for Star Wars after Andor.
Just watched episode 3 and I'm still trying to figure out why everyone is so mad. I was expecting this episode to be ass. It was fine to me. Is it because there were too many girls in it? Didn't they have goofy culty witches in the Ashoka series at the end and in the cartoons?
Perhaps but it seems like the problem is that it throws away all the previous Star Wars shows ideas and everything. People don't mind a little change but to make wholesale changes so that is becomes unrecognizable and throw the Brand Name it to sell it is annoying Rocket River
I'm a star wars casual so I don't know. But we complain about star wars being too SkyWalker focused and the star wars universe being too small in scope, and then when they hit us with something a little different, people go crazy. I don't even know these "wholesale" changes people are talking about. People and creatures have been using and calling the force different stuff in all the stars wars media. Didn't they **** up the force in the Clone Wars cartoons by explaining it to death? I dont know. it's fine to me. I like seeing the "good" jedi acting kind of scummy. I was really expecting episode 3 to be egregiously bad.
This is an old video. It probably isn't really the best show to trot it out for because it is really not a great show, but it really does ring true to me with all the constant hate. I certain remember all the people attacking Disney now were attacking their retroactively-lionized hero George Lucas for Jar Jar back in the early 2000's. I think there is a portion of the fan base who won't be satisfied until we get the Star Wars/Punisher crossover. They want a dark, gritty Star Wars that fits their adult sensibilities. Fundamentally Star Wars was from the start conceived as a silly throw-away space adventure story for kids and young adults like old Buck Rogers serials. I think there is a group who just really can't realize that that is at the core of the concept, or they expect the concept to age along with them? The shows that routinely get sited at "the best" are easily the least child-friendly entries in the Star Wars cannon. I think a lot of the Star Wars fans who, had they been the same age in 1977 that they are now, would just have dismissed the original Star Wars out of hand as silly children's entertainment? I'm not old enough to remember people raging at "silly" C3P0 and R2D2, but I'll trust George. Just a thought. I get you loved it when you were 12. I did too. But maybe it isn't for you anymore? I also get that we live in a world where people on finesteride and lisinopril squeal like little girls over "X-Men 97"... I'm sure someone's going to take issue with this, and part of me genuinely understands and thinks this might be a little overstated. But it does seem to me that the people complaining the most, and the people who made the IP along with the people who currently own the IP have different expectations of what it actually is, and it is probably going to end up looking a whole lot more like what they think it is, than what the angry people imagine. Non of this in any way indicates the show is in any way GOOD, but I'm a bit nonplussed the intensity and the fervor of the reaction.
I'm a casual as well But I do listen to the stone colds and that is what they are complaining about Honestly . . . .. IMO . . . 90% of the complaint are about the Producers and people behind the shows The Creators and producers don't just let their sh*t play out They don't roll it out there and see what it says Instead They hold f*cking Press conferences about how its the Gayest Diversest Anti-Fan Boyest SH*T EVAH They basically come out and say . . . F*CK YOU FAN BOYS THAT HAVE HELD THE FRANCHISE DOWN SINCE 1977 WE DON'T NEED YOU NO MORE!!! . . .. . . . Then when they don't show up . .. or get pissed off at the show that was meant to piss them off (Seriously I have seen some of the people complaining post video of the producers saying making the fanbase upset is part of the goal of the projects) the producers are like. . . .their bigoted pigs and hate women or what have you More Shows More Writing Less f*cking press conferences and announcement about everything BUT THE F*CKING SHOW I always come back to this . . . . If someone made a BARBIE MOVIE which focused on Ken doing Rambo / Ford Fairlane sh*t . . . After it flopped . . . cause no one asked for or wanted that . . who would listen to men screaming . . Women hate men!!! Rocket River
Toxic Fanbases are real However, I think we get too comfortable with blaming them for everything sometimes sh*t is just bad She Hulk was just a horrible show Velma was just a horrible show Homeboys in Outer Space was a horrible show If someone likes it . . . that's cool . .. The problem is . . . when someone want to Use a brand name to sell something I often say . . . the storyline for THE JOKER could not get made . . .. . until they slapped that JOKER NAME on it If that movie was called. . . . The Man in Apart 2B or anything .. . no way in hell it makes a Billie IF this show was not A STAR WARS Show .. . how well would it be doing? I have not watch 3 yet. . .and honestly the b*tching and moaning and reviews of it by people i kind of trust gives me great pause. . . . again I'm a casual so I'm not as invested in it . (I'm more invested in general nerd culture to keep my ear to the streets) Rocket River I try to separate the story from the brand name
Holy crap, it's sitting at 16% audience score in rotten tomatoes with over 10,000+ ratings. I haven't watched a single episode but even Bobba Fat was sitting at over 50% from the audience.
