Different gripes, with Cade, he is not physical enough, not assertive enough, not coming thru enough etc....... He is still their best player.....arguably.
That franchise is a ****ing joke. Sengun is 20x more deserving and the Rockets are still going to wait. Cade has shown nothing to deserve anything close to that but I guess if you live in Detroit you need to do this sort of thing.
The Rockets have a good reason not to extend Sengun before next offseason - the difference in his cap hold and what he's going to get paid is a wide gap. Cap hold - $16,273,962. Rookie max extension next offseason - $38,775,000. That's $22.5m in cap space they can use before inking Sengun. Even if he doesn't get a max but gets something like $25m that's still a gap of $8.73m which might allow them to bring in an upgrade somewhere .... Cade is nowhere near worth that $38.775m but it's Detroit - no one wants to live there, no one wants to play there. They struggle to keep talent, they have to overpay.
Who on the Pistons would you rather max extend other than Cade? Ausar? Ivey? Duren? .....list goes on. You are acting as if they had Sengün and extended Cade instead, well, they do not..... Other than financial detriment, it gives the organization a steady PR format that you cannot shake ...... People were crying for Alperen to be traded even after his All Star season .....this will be the other side of the medal, the Rockets have not signalled any signs that Alperen is treated like the firm Number 1 that he should be.....and that is also a big reason why there will be uncertainties that will continue to exist.
Sengun is doing for The NBA what Caitlin Clark is doing for The WNBA..... The NBA should be promoting Sengun like crazy and so should The Rockets......
