Money for 5 months of off season preparation, 1 month of vacationing and leisure, 5-6 months of playing.
It is disturbing man. I'm all for people making money, but individuals just being stupid rich feels criminal.
Comrade I'm with you. J/k I'm really not a communist but in America, not worshiping our capitalist system pretty much makes you a commie to like 50% of the country. But I do feel like successful athletes, artists, entertainers earn their millions more than corporate executives. There is a lot more hours of hard work and talent that goes into being an elite athlete or entertainer than being a executive of a corporation. So I don't feel as bad with athletes getting the bag. In America, ownership is more important than skill and talent in terms of virtues.
I don't disagree with you, but looking at it from a purely money perspective, it sure doesn't make any sense to me. So many of us bust our ass to make money, so I just wish the playing field was a little more level. Granted, this is coming from me, where both my wife and I have worked incredibly hard to be where we are at, but even then, we are still going to have to work for much longer to enjoy some of luxuries of life. I don't understand how people that make any less than us even make it. I appreciate my uncle and grandma so much more for raising me, somehow, we made it my uncle making minimum wage and my grandma getting a relatively small monthly SS check. Alright, enough ranting, I know I'm taking this to D&D material and that wasn't my intent, but just couldn't help but feeling bothered. I'm not mad at Jaylen by the way, I think he should get his bag, just like every other player in the NBA.
I'm sure they are charismatic enough to convince stupid people their golf time "business meetings" are hard work. There are a lot more humans that can replace the ceo of Exxon Mobile than the amount of humans that can replace Jalen Brown and expect similar production and productivity afterwards.
. Who's a more talented and skilled individual? David Zaslav or Denis Villeneuve? Elon Musk or John B Goodenough?
I love it. I want to be stupid rich but don’t have the brains, talent or luck to make it happen — and I’m content with that. But I certainly never want to inhibit someone’s ability to achieve that, if that’s what they want. Their life. Their morals. I think that’s about as American as it gets — trying to live like a king. Of course it’s different if you get that kind of money by stealing or abusing people. I also don’t see people jacking up prices on non-necessities as some kind of “evil action.” I am not entitled to any product or labor and if people are willing to pay more for something, then more power to them.

How many of us have had a terrible week and then the Rockets or Astros win something and we have days of joy? Can’t put a price on that!
The vast majority of wealth in this country is created from immoral labor practices and monopoly practices. The DOJ is literally investigating Realpage now for price fixing a basic necessity. Our ire of the system shouldn't be directed at Jaylen Brown though. He's not part of the problem. That I agree.
I can make up dumb examples too, check it out: Who is more talented and skilled? Bill Gates or Hasheem Thabeet?
That's definitely a factor but the market is shifting. Just like the NFL did and has been a few years back with wide receivers netting major paydays and now quarterbacks receiving record breaking/setting deals now. The leagues are both thriving and salary caps are going to shift with the new increase in player salaries, soon enough these max-ish deals will be the standard for most proven players and superstars will be bumped enough to mitigate the difference in impact both on and off the court. There's no way these super-max deals will be the cap... especially when these non-superstar players are netting supermaxes left and right somehow.
Thabeet worked harder for what he got. Gates grew up in a family where his parents were able to afford the most expensive commercially available computer systems at the time of Gate's childhood living a comfortable lifestyle where he could concentrate on tinkering around with the system. And the way our economic system works there is a reason why people say "the first million is the hardest" because after Gates got his novel products like a new type of operating system, it was nothing more than just letting a publicly traded corporation growing in a tech bubble market.
Lmao wow dude. Thabeet got his first million for walking and chewing gum at the same time while being 7'3. There's literally no way in hell that is more difficult than what Gates accomplished, and that example was intentionally stupid. Theres plenty of examples of startups led by people that werent born lucky. Furthermore, what do you think is the more common trait? Being born into the upper middle class or being born 7'3? The answer is comically obvious by multiple orders of magnitude.
Great player. I love his defensive tenacity, it hasn't really gone down even though he has become a much better scorer.
