Yeah, it's likely beyond repair, but they can't go down like this. It's not a good division. I think they could get back in it, but probably not with the status quo. And I'm not that mad about it either, **** happens, dynasties fade, but damn if it ain't frustrating to watch it all happen in real time.
I think I'm out on the Astros this season. They aren't acting as if they are a fundamentally serious organization right now.
I feel that as this season becomes more and more futile it will become necessary to have this discussion. Not just one issue but several issues on this team and its management that need to be fixed. It has been a great ride. One that I thought I would never see when I first became an avid fan in the glory days of the Toy Cannon.
It's sad seeing fans wave the white flag on this era. This season is cooked due to owner's pride. But the future is still unwritten, Mcfly. The 2013 Red Sox had a 37 year old Ortiz and 30 year old Pedroia returning from their previous window, 5 years earlier. Their young pitchers were helter skelter going into that season. Crane has to get a grip. Accept his mistake and retool the starting pitchers. The Window shouldn't close when you have 2 MVPs, 26&27yrs . Dana has to show his worth. All he's done so far is be a propagandist for the mistakes. I don't think Dana can do his job until Crane accepts the error of his ways.. 2025 SPs: Max Fried, somehow Dana gets him here. Verlander, The Last Tango in Htown Blanco, run it again. Spencer. Hunter.
Feels like they've gone completely away from what got them here and have embraced a formula that does not produce winning.
Same here, if it burns then I’ll watch it burn, lots of opinions and feeling but I’ll still Tune in….
I'm still and will always be a fan, I just don't have faith in them turning things around this season
10 games above 500 with a +12 run-diff ---- 3 of their last 4 wins by 1 run Barely beating the lowly White Sox by 1 run multiple games. Seattle's luck-fest won't amount to much.
The Astros are reporting that they are still serving up the same portions of focus and effort, nothing has changed, but if fans want more all they need to do is give a subtle Chipotle shrug of disappointment and they will give a little more.
Or maybe they’re the 2006 cardinals and just get hot at the right time. Over 162 I think they have a better team than ours. I wish that want so. But after 162 it’s a crapshoot
It's a crapshoot true, but at least those Cardinals teams had history of winning 100+ games with a +200 run-diff and made multiple *deep* playoff runs. Seattle hasn't accomplished half as much -- or even half of half of half as much. They are less than 10% of those STL teams. Astros will turn the corner before and after Abreu is in his rightful place. The season is still alive and well... well enough. The Dynasty isn't over.
I normally like most of your posts but of late I think you are feeling the pressure of your prediction for the Stros to get to 90 wins this season. The reason Seattle has opened up a big (8.5 game) lead on us is that they are winning the games they need to win and we are not. Run differential means nothing. All that matters is W's and L's. As long as we continue to lose the close games we are going nowhere except backwards. Sadly I see nothing on the horizon to prevent the continuation of what we have been seeing lately from our team. As someone posted earlier it does not have to be this way. Despite the easy stretch of days off and the schedule of late we are still losing ground. Hoping we can figure it out. My fear for this year's team is we are rapidly running out of time.
